Wow... Favre is going to start against the 49ers Sunday
ESPN.com / 8-20-10

Brett Favre will resume right where he left off.

Favre will start in the Vikings' second preseason game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Friday. Favre will play a series or two, ideally about 10 snaps.

"That's about all he needs right now and all he's ready for right now," Childress said

Favre returned to the Vikings on Tuesday after spending much of the summer debating a return to the NFL after offseason surgery on his left ankle.

1. Go Niners

However when regular season kicks off...

I won't be able to say that. Unless the Cards have the division in the bag. Then I will root for them to gain a wild card spot. :)

Though familiarity, which the 49ers and Singletary certainly are, is a bad thing in the playoffs if the two do meet hypothetically. :scared:

though I'd argue it's debatable that playoffs are in the 49ers future this year. Not with Smith as quarterback and two rookies starting on the O-line. I hope I'm wrong.

On edit: Defensive game plan Sunday is to blitz Favre

3. Hard to believe that A Smith and A Rodgers drafted in the
same year.....A-12 is just so much better.....and I'm so happy the Packers got him.... GO PACKERS GO.

4. I remember in that draft the 49ers saying Smith was ahead
of Rodgers developmentally, but also acknowledging Rodgers would probably be the better QB down the road. What made it a tougher decision is they had the very first draft choice. I wish they would have taken Rodgers.

I predict David Carr will be starting for an Francisco by mid-season.

6. How about Carr as the starter
with Nate Davis as the backup? That's what I'd like to see.

7. Davis will get a good test with the second team tonight
He has that learning disability that makes it hard to decipher the playbook. If the coaching staff can somehow overcome that, why not?

5. As a Saints fan
I don't care if the Vikes have Favre or not, I am looking forward to the game because it is the first regular season game and the first time I get hear those beautiful words I have waited 43 seasons to hear, "Defending World Champions NEW ORLEANS SAINTS". Also I don't want the Vikings to have the excuse of if Favre had been there.

8. And what will the Saints' excuse be
if the Vikes kick their ass this time around?

The Saints played a great game last year and with the exception of the one hit that hurt Favre's ankle, I have no problem with how the defense tried to take out Favre (that hit was late and low and if I remember correctly Jared Allen got a penalty and fined about $50,000 for a lesser hit on Aaron Rogers earlier in the season).

That aside, if Childress weren't suck a dick head, the Vikes would have won. It was his play calling that killed them at the end of the game.
