In the end, the Cal State Fullerton baseball team proved it had the depth to win four games in three days.

Nick Ramirez hit the go-ahead two-run homer with two out in the sixth inning, and the top-seeded Titans won the Fullerton Regional of the NCAA tournament with a 9-5 victory over the fourth-seeded Gophers on Monday night.

The Gophers (32-30), who were trying to get out of the regional round of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1977, won their first two games of the regional, including a 3-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Friday night. However, they couldn't come through on their two chances to beat the Titans (47-16) one more time, losing 7-2 Sunday night to set up Monday's game.

Minnesota was the ONLY Big Ten representative in the original 64 team field. And though the Golden Gophers played tougher than expected, in the end Big Ten baseball was shown once more to be lacking..
