Price of trying to retrieve a golf ball from Alligator infested pond
Edited on Fri May-07-10 04:58 PM by golfguru
This dude has one arm missing, plucked off by the alligator

The alligator is seen with the arm in his mouth.

They cut open the alligator and retrieve the arm

I think they re-attached the arm, but do not have that confirmed.

3. I don't think that was golf related
Those pictures say 2007 and I'm almost certain I saw them on another forum at about that time. The guy was swimming, not golfing, when the gator chomped his arm. Unfortunately, I don't think the arm could be saved.

There have been similar golf related incidents but this one stands out to me due to the memorable picture of the arm removed from the gator belly. I don't understand why it's making the rounds right now. I saw it somewhere else tonight.

My home course in Miami doesn't have gators but I'm always wary of reaching into the hazards. Even if it's a foot away I'll pull out the trusty scoop.

4. What's your home course Awsi?
Just curious to see if I played it.

As to the picture... it's certainly not golf related.

5. Miccosukee
It used to be called Kendale Lakes in the '80s and earlier. You might know it by that name. They hold a Nationwide event there late in the year.

In Miami I also play Calusa and Palmetto and Kendall Greens quite a bit. They are public courses in the southwest section. Kendall Greens formerly was called Crooked Creek. Ted Hendricks owned the property and wanted to close the course and develop on it but the locals fought it, and prevailed. O.J. Simpson used to be a regular at Calusa for about 5 years after he relocated to Miami. I saw him literally dozens of times. That was awkward as heck, as you might imagine.

In the Las Vegas area I typically play Wildhorse in the Henderson area, another course that has changed names too many times to mention.

8. You are probably right...
because the guy seems to be clad in swimming trunks, not typical
golf shorts.

I posted as golf related because someone forwarded me the email with a headline
something like "Price of retrieving a golf ball".

Nevertheless the episode seems factual and interesting even if gory.
