to build the most expensive stadium ever.

Plus a .05 hotel occupancy tax and a 2 percent car rental tax.

You'd think that with 8 percent unemployment the city of Arlington would have better use of their money than using it on a Wade Phillip's coached team.

4. I lived there for four years. Every voter was kicked in the head by a horse sometime in their life.
How I escaped that fate I'll never know.

6. I'm not defending Arlington,
but it's their prerogative -- and any cities, for that matter -- to willingly give money for a project like that. I'm sure they had other needs too. But that was how they deemed it best to spend their money. Santa Clara, California, is struggling with the same decision right now over the 49ers.

7. At least that money went for an actual stadium
Maryland just out and out GAVE 40 million to Art Modell when he moved the Ravens here along with the money for Ravens stadium.
There is something to be said that a new stadium does employ people and will bring in revenue for Arlington. Don't forget that many other events than just football games happen at the stadium as well.

8. One fucking post season win!
I would have never believed that 30 years after I left North Texas that the Rangers would still be as pathetic as they were when I used to go to their games.

From Wiki:

The Rangers (when combined with their predecessor the Senators) hold several distinctions for playoff futility:

* They are one of only three current MLB franchises which have yet to appear in the World Series (the others are the Seattle Mariners and the Washington Nationals), and the oldest active MLB franchise yet to appear.

* They are the oldest franchise in all the four major American pro sports leagues (MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL) to have never appeared in the league's championship, as well as the only Dallas-Fort Worth area team yet to do so.

* They are the only current MLB franchise which has yet to win a playoff series.

* In their history the Rangers have won only one playoff game, on the road at Yankee Stadium in the franchise's first playoff game; they have never won a home playoff game.
