Pete Carroll dominated the Big Ten
The Big Ten went 0-7 against USC during Pete Carroll's time in charge. No wonder we have so many Big Ten worshipers that are glad to see him go.

Jan. 3, 2003: USC 38, Iowa 17 (Orange Bowl)
Jan. 1, 2004: USC 28, Michigan 14 (Rose Bowl)
Jan. 1, 2007: USC 32, Michigan 18 (Rose Bowl)
Jan. 1, 2008: USC 49, Illinois 17 (Rose Bowl)
Sept. 13, 2008: USC 35, Ohio State 3
Jan. 1, 2009: USC 38, Penn State 24 (Rose Bowl)
Sept. 12, 2009: USC 18, Ohio State 15

Thanks Pete..for showing the Big Ten who's boss...

1. Will you thank him
When the NCAA lowers the boom on USC football for years to come? I mean seriously. Maryland's bball program got laid out because coaches gave kids some rides to school. What Carroll did was far worse.....

2. Big Ten fans and schools have standards
And win at all cost schools that care nothing about academics or academic standards. USC is private; private schools can be far more flexible about admissions.

5. Everything associated with them has been wiped out of Michigan's records
Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 05:27 PM by 1gobluedem
Records expunged, players banned from the program, coach fired, self-imposed sanctions, turned themselves into the NCAA. Other than burning everyone at the stake I don't know what else we could have done. Nobody is proud of what happened and I don't know anyone who tries to justify it.

Did USC do the same?

Of course Mark Dantonio has reinstated five of his suspended players (the best ones, strangely enough) before their hearing -- could it be that he wants them to participate in crucial spring practices and training? I can't say I sanction that.

6. Gee, Upton. All home games.
Check out the Big Ten's record vs. teams other than USC and UCLA in the Rose Bowl. Little different story when your routine isn't disrupted for six weeks, isn't it?

7. Correction, Condem. The game this fall in September was in Columbus.
All of the others were home games for USC.

8. Correction mad, you're forgetting the 2003 Orange Bowl
in which USC crushed Iowa....was that a USC home win too?

My, you Big Ten apologists are full of excuses..

9. Neither the Orange Bowl or Columbus 2009
were USC home games and the Rose Bowl is UCLA's, not USC's, home field. So, in actuality, the only USC home game was against OSU in 2008.

10. Have you looked up the records of The PAC-10 in the Rose Bowl, Upton?.
Not including the LA schools. Just curious.

11. Please don't confuse my sentiments.
I guess I would qualify as a Big 10 lover. Just because I think the Kiffin hire is well, um, stupid is about as diplomatic as I can come up with, doesn't mean that I'm happy to see Carroll go. Sadly, however, the Kiffin hire does make me question USC's motives. And I don't really see how one can conflate the success of a football program to bowl wins. I guess for some that's all that counts.

12. By golly, old Upton.
Sad to say, you haven't mentioned the ball & chain ol' Uncle Pete's about to leave the USC program. But it's all wins and losses to you. Doesn't matter how ya' get there. A real asinine thread if you start digging, Chief. He's a fucking cheater. Like Bonds. Now, you got another
fucking cheater coming in. So what's the point?

14. Funny, but I thought Upton was a Stanford grad, who now lives
in the Northwest US. I trying to figure if he really is a REAL SPORTS FAN!

Never really know what is going on there, with those Pac-10 folks!

My new prediction: Brian Kelly will persuade ND that it is indeed, time. The ONLY logical solution to the whole deal.

18. Not a chance, Condem. Notre Dame is going to the Conference they will
excel in, The Mid American Conference. I have already talked extensively about how they would fit perfectly into that conference!

20. Just stating the facts Condem
I find it rather remarkable that Carroll went undefeated against the Big Ten. If you followed the spirit that you often advocate, you would be congratulating Pete instead of running him down.

I realize there's an investigation underway, but lets wait and see what, if anything, happens. Calling Carroll a cheater is definitely premature and reeks of the poor sportsmanship I often see with those who have a Big Ten bias.
