U-M bans bags following terror arrest
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan is banning purses and all other bags from Michigan Stadium for security reasons, and the Pittsburgh Pirates are planning additional screening measures, too.

The University of Michigan said Wednesday it will require written permission from a medical professional before allowing any bags into the football stadium for Saturday's game against Indiana.

Recent arrests in Colorado and New York related to a terrorism probe touched off a flurry of national security bulletins. Michigan said in a statement that "adjusting security measures is the prudent thing to do."

School safety Deputy Chief Charlie Noffsinger said Michigan hasn't received information on any specific threats but acted after consulting with federal officials.

In Pittsburgh, the Pirates are tightening security because of the recent warnings and the G-20 summit Thursday and Friday at the downtown David L. Lawrence Convention Center, across the Allegheny River from PNC Park.

1. Why is Pittsburgh doing this. There are only a handful of people still going to the
"games" there.

3. Yeah, you need this for America's Team...because they always
sell out...then again, all fans of America's Team are freedom loving patriots who revere all that is good and decent, so terrorism isn't a problem. :D

Who is God's team?

My uncle told me a joke years ago. Why do the Cowboy's have a hole in the roof? So God can watch the games.

Fast forward to today, now God has a giant television to watch the games. :silly:

9. They must be doing this in more place than just the Big House and in Pittsburgh
kind of strange to single out those two.

I remember going to a game in Ann Arbor in 2002 (Michigan- Washington) and the two men in front of us, Washington fans, had a backpack with them, even though they were strictly banned. They'd brought in an empty backpack wrapped around one of their legs. I don't really get this. Why break the rules for no good reason? Why did they have to have a backpack at all?

10. It was a fanny pack
Remember? They used it to sneak in Zingermans sandwiches; at that time you couldn't bring in your own food. Remember how the sandwiches were all squished?

But they were nice guys and very gracious when Michigan beat Washington in the last second.
