3. It happened to Iowa after their one point win against Northern Iowa
Mizzou probably didn't have enough style points against Bowling Green.

Interesting thing about this year it appears the gap between BCS teams and non-BCS teams appears to be closing if not closed already.

2. Why is OSU still 11?
Is there no justice, is there no God? Why?

4. They did play a quality opponent
While most teams played teams that they should beat. I think it's reasonable to be ahead of 1-1 Virginia Tech and 1-1 Oklahoma St. VT lost to a quality opponent and Okla. St beat Georgia but lost to Houston.

5. Yeah, but they barely won the week before, at home, wasn't it?
I would think they would have dropped farther.

6. Oh lack of style points
Navy was a winning team last year. But it doesn't mean much at this point. When it gets to week 8 and teams play more games it will become more clearer.

7. I don't know if Michigan has really earned their way back in
I hate these early-season polls, since they don't really reflect anything, but they become the basis of the rankings that matter later on.

8. Very true...ND is screwed...
...they dropped out early and their schedule is such that it will be a while before they get ranked, if ever...if Michigan deserves to be in, then they do, a close loss at Michigan...people say the BCS is objective, but the BCS rankings are weighted on these very subjective polls.

9. All the more reason for a tournament with the Conference Champions.
Get rid of as much of the subjectivity as possible. (and force the Amish into a conference).

10. I don't agree with that

You could have 2 teams from 1 conference that is better then any team another conference puts out. I say keep the BCS rankings to rank the top 8 and do a playoff from there. If you can't get into the top 8,(an 11-1 record in a BCS conference should be good enough for that) then you don't deserve to get in.

11. Dude! The one and out works well at every other division down to Pop Warner.
You can take the champions of the major conferences and throw in a couple mid-majors and a couple of major wild-cards (from conferences) and you will have an exciting playoff.

Rankings are bullshit. Win your conference or you are out.

13. Using "wild cards" would require rankings, though
The problem is that the BCS rankings take into account bullshit human polls. I mean, really, how many teams does a coach watch each week? It's in their best interest to vote up teams they're going to play (to increase their strength of schedule) and vote up their conference (to make them look good via halo effect).

12. CAL is #8!
I think I'll screen cap that because as Al Michaels once asked about believing in miracles....!!!
What a joy it is to follow a college football team that's good.
