Tough way to die for the Mets today.
Tying runs on base, no outs, both runners go, and the hitter hits into an unassisted triple play.

Sometimes, it just ain't your year.

1. In fairness, they were pretty lucky to be in the situation they were.
Howard should have had that ball down the line that ended up being a leadoff triple and Bruntlett messed up 2 plays in a row after that. Still, what a sweet way to end the game! :woohoo:

2. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
Now, pardon me while I pick my jaw up from the floor.

:P :hi:

4. I just happened to put the stream on in the 8th.
I don't know if I've ever seen an unassisted triple play before. I think it happened with the Red Sox years ago, but I'm not sure. I think everyone on both teams were stunned by it, and no one seemed to know how to react at first. It was funny.

6. Asdrubal Cabrera of Cleveland had one last year
May 12th, 2008. Didn't end the game though.

3. It doesn't even matter at this point
I think us Mets fans are all looking to next year.

Wilpon just gave Minaya and Manuel another vote of confidence today so that's not a good thing for those two. Great for us though.

Anyways, it's hitting late August and I'm already eagerly anticipating hockey season. It's getting down to that final stretch. Alls I need to see is the Sam Adams Oktoberfests to hit the shelves. That's when I really start gettin excited.

5. An historic day!
It was the 15th unassisted triple play in major league historythe second that ended a game. Detroit Tigers first baseman Johnny Neun also accomplished the feat on May 31, 1927, completing a 1-0 victory over Cleveland, according to STATS LLC.
