Who did Jesus charge interest to? Is it that there are that many stupid people out there or is it that as a religion, Christianity has decided that it is not worth even trying to hide what they are about?

I get emails like this constantly and feel that these companies would be hawking Satanic loans if they thought there was a market.

9. Wasn't that in the song Put your hand in the hand of the man from Gahilee?
Not sure who sang it but I remember that being in there as well.

I'm sure St. Peter will be impressed as he operates the trap door.

I feel sorry for the many good Christians out there who believe in letting God judge, helping the poor, and that the gathering of wealth isn't what it's all about.

Unfortunately, the Bushbot fundamentalists are making them look as bad as the radical extremists.

6. Fuckin' christian roofers and Xtian carpenters etc, etc
There is a law in my state to shut down those car-title loan thieves, but it is being opposed by the effing christians in the house. I am just getting sick of all the effing bullshit religiosity and the attendant lack of morality.
Can I have an Amen?

15. Working on taxes tongiht and my only non-paying client is the
born-again, totally saved, constantly "witnessing" Christian.

Sigh. I'll just have to write off the invoice. I've called several times and it's just not worth the aggravation.

But he's the choir director at his church, the men's Sunday School class teacher, preaches, etc.

Always did drive me nuts when I was working at their place.

7. How Funny
Tom,

I am firmly entrenched withingthe Christian Ghetto and I don't get stuff like this.

Look I am not going to defend stuff like this but this is pretty close to what the GOP does to Church Folks. This is nothing more than direct marketing techniques at work.

No fidderent then saying we will give you a 10% discount on Sunday Brunch if you bring in your Church Bulletin. Someone is just trying to get more traffic to their site.

The funny thing is that Christians are not supposed to charge other Christians interest.

Where is this located? If you are a Christian, do you get a "special, wink wink" deal? I'd love to see someone who is of darker color than the couple on the ad apply for a loan....do you think they'll get it?

12. Another thing that I always thought was against Christs Teachings was
the ccli christian copywriting of music. If you want to play a song in church that was written by somebody else you got to pay for it? I don't know about you but that doesn't seem too selfless to me. That's capitalism and how christian radio got hold of christian music.

14. For centuries, Christianity forbade the charging of interest
It was a mortal sin called usury, which is why only Jews were allowed to take up the occupation of money lending (Church leaders figured, "They are going to Hell anyway, so why not? Someone needs to do it.")

19. The Christian Hard-Right are not almost as bad as radical extremists...
...but that they ARE radical extremists.

Doesn't help in chilling out that "Crusader meme" that some radical extremists use to keep the pot stirred.

Both Christian and Islamic extremists stir the same (literally) damned cauldron.

23. LOL
And they think people will keep falling for it?

I once worked for a couple of very vocally "Christian" guys. They got in trouble for not paying their State payroll withholding taxes and tried to use as a defense that "we tithe and give a lot of money to missionary work."

They still had to pay all the fines and penalties.

They were also the same guys who, when I left the office because the school called that my son had broken his arm, said, "If you walk out that door, don't come back."

Lovely people. :eyes:

24. Yeah, they'll fall for it
That's the maddening thing. They always do. Again and again. Swaggert, Falwell, Robertson, Benny Hinn, Peter Popoff, Jim and Tammy... all doing the most hamfisted, inept, banal kinds of scamboogery, all winding up richer than God. Networks working on the brink of insolvency week after week, Satan's gonna shut us down unless you give til it hurts. Pulling phony baloney MIIIIIRACLES outta their asses, getting all squinchy-eyed -- I see a woman in Tuscaloosa being cured of her cancer right now, a paraplegic in Baton Rouge growing new limbs, PRAISE JEEZUS, SUMMANAHUMMANAWANGDANGDOODLE!! God notices when you send money and you'll get it back a HUNDREDFOLD. Nevermind that tenner, send Franklins and you'll be out of that trailer an in a new 4-bedroom house, living the way HE intends.

They never fucking learn. It's disgusting.

who choose their businesses from the "Christian Yellow Pages" because they believe Christian business owners are "more interested in God than in money" and "less likely to cheat them". :eyes:
