I'm not much into the bible although I was raised practically in church
as my dad started a church that is still today. but I remember during the cold war and the preacher preaching about the end time. how a false prophet would cause a major war and the world would be destroyed. My question is, Is this false prophet bush*? sure seems like it to me if I'm remembering it correctly.

2. This country is oozing with false prophets: SpongeDob, Patwa Robertson...
Tinky-winky Falwell and on and on and on. I think the world has always had it's share of "false prophets" who manipulate the ignorance of the masses. Nothing new here except, somehow, I thought we'd evolved past this nonsense.

4. It depends on how strictly or strangely you interpret such prophecies
You might check out Slactivists review of the Left Behind Books for a look at this - he knows his stuff. http://slacktivist.typepad.com/slacktivist/left_behind/index.html

"But none of this matters to the prophecy nuts who are convinced that the Antichrist will be a man of peace. And since they believe that the most important thing for Christians to do is to be on the lookout against the Antichrist, and vigilantly opposed to his evil ways, they believe that Christians must oppose anyone who speaks of, pursues, or tries to make, peace.

This is one of the most astonishing and dangerous aspects of the popularity of the End Times heresies promoted by people like LaHaye and Jenkins. It is one of this biggest reasons why this matters -- deeply, truly, seriously matters.

Tens of millions of copies of the Left Behind books have been sold. That doesn't just mean that tens of millions of our fellow citizens have horrible taste in literature. It also means they are being taught to oppose -- to condemn as immoral and ungodly -- any effort that goes under the name "peacemaking."

Since they believe the Antichrist will rule over a one world government, these readers are also being taught to fear, loathe and oppose the United Nations and anything that smacks of multilateral or international cooperation. (We'll see much more about the UN as we get further into L.B.)
"

Now see Bush doesn't talk much about Peace, so that might rule hime out.

10. Something else the end-timers overlook
Is the warning that the Antichrist will "deceive many." At least, they never count themselves among the "many" who are deceived.

But once the thin edge of the wedge makes its way in that "You know, I might be wrong," the whole edifice begins to crumble, and an extraordinary effort is required to maintain it.

11. Oh, but he does talk about peace.
His path to peace is through war. If we just fight enough, some day people will embrace our values (defined as American Christian Capitalist values) and markets will freely flow and there will be peace and democracy everywhere. The lion will lie down with the lamb. How many times have you yeard him say that democracies are peaceful nations? He sees us as being a peaceful nation, even when we launch unilateral wars. That's why he fits this myth.

14. anyone who would think that they can make me like them, well you know
the rest of the story. This little 'moran' has me worried. Can you be religous and not go to church, not believe in the church as we have today. if so, maybe i have a chance, if not, i'm going straight to hell.

20. I believe you can be religious and not go to church.
And I also believe that there are many paths to God, some just happen to be labelled Christian, and follow the teachings of one leader at one time in history. I've come to believe that all deities as described by different religions are their own interpretations of the mysteries in the earth, the heavens, and ourselves that we do not understand. It is a way of ordering the universe. See my other post in this thread.

My next question, do you have to believe in the bible as a 'bible' per sei or as a guide, a whys and how comes.

5. hopefully we can stop him before the world is destroyed.
"For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect." (Matthew 24: 24)

I'm not much into the bible either, but that quote seems to fit perfectly to our current administration.

7. Some of my Christian friends say
that not only is Bush the false prophet, but also the Anti-Christ.

I think right now we are seeing a lot of false prophets, and not just in Chrisitianity. My definition of a false prophet is anyone who advocates and encourages behavior that goes against the teachings of their faith.

13. If you do search, I humbly suggest
You could do much worse than begin with what Jesus called the two great commandments: Love God, and love your neighbor as yourself. This simple formula is presaged and echoed in any number of other belief systems, including Judaism, Islam, Baha'i, Buddhism and Hinduism.

9. we really cannot put much credeance (sp) into biblical
revelations. these were really just stories inspired by God to teach. Remember that we were also told that we will never know the time of the ending either. Yes we should be afraid of the moron on Pennsylvania Ave but I don't think he is any kind of anti-christ/false prophet.

17. I agree, Gush is only a POS acting like he knows but in reality he don't
know shit...

He cannot use a tool requiring some basic skill...like cutting wood with a skill saw, hammering a 12 penny nail in 4 strokes, using a transit, even simple things like using a wood chisel escapes him. Instead, they give him a machette to cut brush and be manly...

Bush is Toast....

18. I think teachings like this, in any religion, are part of the collective
memory of mankind. Many times in history corrupt and evil men have lead civilizations to destruction. We keep these memories of power and destruction alive in our eschatological writings and stories in hopes that they will prevent future calamaties. Tools coming to us from our ancestors to help us chart our way in time. Unfortunately, we choose to learn the lessons the hard way over and over again.

22. When John of Patmos
wrote Revelations, he was living in his perceived end times - thus denoted Nero as the Anti-Christ. I really do not but much credence in The Book of Revelations as being one that foretells our future.O8)

16. LOL
it is amazing how primitive we really are

hitler, stalin, mao, napolean, and many others were all given credit as that false prophet, but the reality is that it is the nature of human beings to do terrible things, just as it is possible for them to do amazing things
