My Jesus Coming Back Scenario
Once again, Jesus would get together some apostles, perform some miracles, heal the sick until He would come to the attention of the Bush Administration.
The Administration would see Him as a threat to their power once he proclaimed Himself to be "King of the Christians" or whatever. They would try to capture Him and eventually suceed. At the trial, the Born-again Christians would ask to have Him crucified. Pilate (a moderate Republican judge maybe) would find no reason to have Him put to death and then would prepare to release Him. The the Talibornagains would come to his office and ask once again to have Him put to death. Pilate would ask them if they really wanted their king to be put to death. Pat and Jerry would say: "We have no King but W."
After that, it would go exactly as in the Bible.

No telling how such a scenario would play out, but we could safely assume, 1) that Jesus' return would largely go unnoticed for quite some time, and only a handful would recognize him for who he was. 2) that Jesus would have very few kind things to say about the current leadership in America (think Pharisees), and that he would finally be noticed in a big way, and 3) that the government would eventually arrest him, convict him of treason, and finally have him executed, all with the support and blessing of all of his "followers," prompting him to say once again, "Father forgive them, they STILL know not what they do!"

6. Failure to learn from history dooms one to repeating it.
Seems we just keep flunking history.
