1. They screamed that he was trying to change the 'traditions'
I find that such a comment to think on.

Tradition, wow, to make an argument by that is to only argue that is how it was done before, is that really thinking? is that feeling?

Traditions can add some good, and some are correct, but they can add thoughts of status quo. How can you ever think and feel if someone does not ask if a tradition really is what is best. If you can find anywhere in your belief system that a 'rule' changed, then you have to think that rules might change again, and think and feel what is best. Although some do not change, how do you know which ones change and which ones don't? Think feel and don't be scared of being a bit outside comfort zone.

You have to claim the world is already perfect to not question your traditions. And no religion believes that.

A favorite song.

2. That one will suffer for living courageously
I'm agnostic, but I do observe Good Friday. It resonates. Jesus loved fiercely, decried injustice, and was consequently tortured and murdered by religious charlatans and agents of Empire.

The crucifixion carries the virtue of truth.

4. (1) A reform Rabbi can do well if enough people practice make believe.
(2) Proof positive that Jesus was a Jew. His mother thought he was god and he thought his mother was a virgin.

(3) They don't make virgins like they used to.

5. No lesson. Why would I care what you think of the currupted
teachings of a fantasy person? In fact, why am I even bothering with this thread except that I'm bored?

6. The main lesson is choose your associates carefully.
Going for Judas Iscariot was one of the all time HR boners. Also, to encourage loyalty, don't constantly rag your associates. We all need to know things like that.

7. speak truth to power
help the less fortunate

serve others even when you are exhausted

having compassion is a necessity

be careful with whom you associate

do not seek the approval of others

take time to be alone & think deeply

radical change isnt easily accepted

some people have hard hearts & deaf ears

live simply, eat well, walk lots

one person CAN change the world

8. John 8:1-11
1But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" 6They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

11"No one, sir," she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

9. What's the point of this?
I clicked on this (naively) expecting to see stuff like Love Your Neighbour, Love Your Enemies, Help The Poor and Disadvantaged, Feed The Hungry, etc. Instead I get mostly stuff about the supernatural claims of the Bible, which have little to do with the actual teachings of Jesus.

12. We're given the narrative with his defending the woman
"taken in adultery," who is about to be stoned to death by indignant villagers.

I like that guy. I like that he stood up for her against angry stone-wielding folk.

Can't prove that it happened but I like that scene a lot just the same.
