Federal Way officials approve copter pad for mega-church

FEDERAL WAY -- A city hearing examiner has approved a helicopter landing pad for a Federal Way church.

It would allow Pastors Casey and Wendy Treat to fly between the Christian Faith Center in Federal Way and its Everett campus. Unless neighbors appeal to the city council, Monday's decision will become final.

Some neighbors complained at a hearing of the possible noise, but the hearing examiner said there would be no measurable increase. There are restrictions against frequent or nighttime flights.

A church spokesman told The (Tacoma) News Tribune a helicopter would be used only on major religious holidays or for special guest speakers.

How delightful to see these Christian pastors leading by example. :puke:

1. 1 Helicopter
How many people could be fed and clothed just on the maintenance alone?

2. And lo, Jesus rode into Jerusalem aboard a helicopter, and bade the believers to follow.

5. If they have enough money to purchase or lease a helicopter
then they have enough money to get taxed. Again another example of a church using the public infrastrasture to further their greed.

8. Well...
"A church spokesman told The (Tacoma) News Tribune a helicopter would be used only on major religious holidays or for special guest speakers."

No doubt Jesus will reappear out of the sky in a heliochopper. A guy's gotta have a landing spot. Maybe that's the "special guest speaker" they're talking about.

11. Christian glitterati
The church URL is the preacher's name.

http://www.caseytreat.com

Neither of his fancy churches is finished and already he's talking helicopters. This here is a man o' vision who won't be stopped. And why not, the suckers have brought him this far. What's a few million more when God's Own Little Trump is praying for your "favor and financial increase?"

Q. When will the new Federal Way campus be complete?
A. We are open but must finish the 2nd floor.

Q. Will Christian Faith School open at the same time?
A. Christian Faith School’s new campus will be completed some time after the new building opens. The school has relocated to the new Sanctuary Building. The facility will be large enough to accommodate CFS and our congregation until the new school campus opens.

Q. What will happen to the current CFC south campus location once the new building is complete?
A. The facility is sold.

Q. What is next for the North campus?
A. There is 40,000 square feet of unfinished space to complete, balconies to build and remodeling to be done.

Q. Why do we want more facilities?
A. Increasing the size of our facilities will allow more room for more people. We desire to present the Gospel to everyone in the Northwest. Larger facilities will allow us to provide more for our community and our congregation.

Q. What happens if I can’t fulfill my pledge?
A . Your “Start With the Impossible” pledge is made in faith. We will be praying and believing with you for favor and financial increase. You may contact the church anytime to readjust the amount of your pledge commitment.

12. Oh, ick. I've known that kind of pastor.
My mom's old church's pastor's just like that guy. Strong-armed the board into agreeing to buy a huge plot of land to the east of town to build a megachurch with a massive complex on (got the drawings all set, even). He's ticked off so many people, though, that the church is shrinking, and nothing's been built yet on the land except for a big sign.

I really hope the people in that church wise up. This guy's not the real deal.

13. I'd like to see someone survey
the likes of Joel Osteen's flock, to see how they're doing financially relative to churches that don't do the prosperity schtick. I have to believe that a diet of claim-your-prize-as-a-show-of-faith sermons has almost certainly left more of them underwater financially.

18. It would be difficult, but it would be worth it.
After all that Prayer of Jabez crap, I'd like to see the results from that.
