Another CO. Evangelical Pastor found to be gay (Haggard wanna-be)
I guess this guy is a Ted Haggard wanna-be. He is a second-rate guy, as his mega-church only had 2,100 sheep. Possibly if he had energized his preaching with methamphetamine...

2nd pastor resigns over gay sex scandal
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Monday, December 11, 2006

excerpt:

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The founding pastor of a second Colorado church has resigned over gay sex allegations, just weeks after the evangelical community was shaken by the scandal surrounding megachurch leader Ted Haggard.

Haggard, a gay-marriage opponent, admitted to unspecified "sexual immorality" when he resigned last month as president of the National Association of Evangelicals and pastor of the 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs. A male prostitute had said he had had sex with Haggard for three years.

On Sunday, Paul Barnes, founding pastor of the 2,100-member Grace Chapel in this Denver suburb, told his evangelical congregation in a videotaped message he had had sexual relations with other men and was stepping down.

5. I totally blame religion for it
If he had the freedom to live with a man, and not feel guilty about it, none of this would have happened.

Are we still neanderthals? Why do people still believe being gay is a choice and sin?

6. Why? Because it's easier to hate than to learn about people who are different from them.
I don't blame religion for everything, but religious fundamentalism teaches people to take what they're told on "faith", no matter how repugnant it may seem.

7. It's a bit ironic when you think about it
One of the big theological implications of the Protestant Reformation was the belief in a personal relationship with God, rather than through a priest as an intermediary. To me, that would imply having to look within one's self for answers rather than relying on others, but such an approach is anathema to many modern Christians.

8. The irony escapes them because they don't know their own history.
I work with a guy who still believes the United States government didn't try to exterminate native Americans.

Because he wasn't "taught" that in school.
