Red Hot XM Deal (if you can't get AAR locally) is now INCANDESCENT
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 03:08 AM by Rosco T.
week or so back I told y'all about this XM Friends and Family (we're all friends here right?) on some insane prices on XM Receivers...

the prices have now gotten way past insane...

OK, to recap...

go to http://www.xmradio.com/partners

access code : xmbbxm03

to get the prices on the equipment you must agree to -

- You are required to purchase three months of XM service when you purchase a radio through this promotion ($38.85) and to keep a minimum of six months continuous XM service. Failure to maintain an XM Consumer Plan or XM Family Plan monthly subscription for six months will result in a charge of $150 per XM2Go product and Polk home tuner ordered. A $60 charge will apply for all other radios, per radio ordered.

- Radios are shipped pre-activated. XM service billing automatically begins on the day your radio is shipped.

- The credit card number used to activate your XM service via this promotion will be added to your XM account for future billing. If you opt to activate your XM service via this promotion with an electronic check, your XM account will be set up with invoice billing.

- The terms of this offer shall supercede the terms of the Customer Agreement with respect to the cancellation of the XM service.
Returns are not accepted. Exchanges are accepted for defective equipment only and within 30 days of hardware receipt. All sales are final.

- Orders ship within 2 business days. Ground shipped orders usually arrive within 6-8 days. Adult signature is required on all deliveries.

- Shipping Carrier will not deliver any packages to a P.O. Box. Please use a valid street address.

Ok, getting past that, here are the prices (HANG ON TO YOUR HATS)

* SKYFI2 Car Bundle (SkyFi2, Car Kit) >> FREE << (Amazon Price $149.89)

* SKYFI2 Home Bundle (SkyFi2, Home Kit) >> $39 << (Amazon Price $85.90+$49.99)

* SKYFI2 BoomBox Bundle (SkyFi2, SkyFi BoomBox) >> $29 << (Amazon Price $85.90+$84.99)

* Your Choice of either the Pioneer AirWave, TAQ XM2GO or Delphi MyFi PORTABLE Receivers >> $99 << (Amazon Prices $249, $199 and $199 respectively)

NOTE: Malloy will be on in REAL-TIME in Janurary and Colmes will be banished, all other shows are on their normal times.

Enjoy....

13. No, XM finally put Ed Schultz on another channel
http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=167

They still delay Mike Malloy, presumably until Colmes gets moved to the new Fox Talk Channel when that monster starts up on XM.

2. Any news how well XM is doing in the marketplace?
These price offerings lead me to think that they're in a heated winner take all battle against Sirius (I really don't think there's enough room for two satellite radio networks). Eventually, one of them will fold or be bought out by the other. It's mainly for that reason I've been putting off purchasing a satellite radio set-up.

FWIW, I'm interested in a vehicle set-up. I already have a XM/Sirius ready deck in my Jeep so I need the XM Direct package, but for some reason they're not offering any deals on that.

5. XM is on the road to 6 million subs by end of the year...
.. I suspect that is why they are offering these killer deals. Also, I hear in the grapevine a SkyFi3 is on the way, and a second gen of the handheld/portables.

Neither company is 'making money' yet (not suprising) but XM is doing a lot better in it's money management (see: $500,000,000 for Howard/Martha/NASCAR/Richard Simmons for stations not even on the air yet for Sirius). XM also just closed a deal for Honda to make XM standard in all it's cars for '06/'07 and Toyota/Nissan/Hundai come on in '06 also. XM on target to be profitable in '06.

And if one is bought out by the other, you don't think there will be an equipment swapout or compatibility? And hell's bell's, at this price for eq, it's a no brainer.

11. A deal for Dish Network to buy DirecTV was crushed...
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 09:14 AM by drbtg1
...a few years ago by the FCC AND the Justice Department. There were monopoly concerns in spite of the fact that satellite TV competes against cable. Same situation here, so don't hold your breath for a Sirius/XM merger.

3. Question for you, Roscoe.
My car is a '97 - CD player only. Will something like this work in my car? I'm hoping to keep her for many, many more years. Thanks!

4. Most of the XM radios will rebroadcast on an FM frequency
So you tune your car radio to that and get XM.

9. How tricky is reception?
Do you need line-of-sight to the satellite? Am I likely to be able to get reception on a commuter train?

15. Depends where you live. Some urban areas have enough terrestrial
repeater coverage that you don't have to rely on line of sight sat reception. People have reported getting good reception in trains (except tunnels) and I get better reception with my XM2GO on a bus than with a pocket AM radio which surprised me. But again, that depends on the location and if repeaters are available so line of sight isn't required.

XM doesn't make info regarding its repeaters and locations public. But users in your area can tell you if it has good reception or not. I checked out XM fan site messageboards to see about reception before I bought my XM2GO.

10. Please explain this deal to me like I'm a 4 year old.
I want to buy an XM package (home, car, etc) for my daughter, but I don't understand the bells and whistles options or the subscription requirements.

Can you walk me through the process and recommend the best package deal on that site?

I'm ready to buy and subscribe.

Thanks!

19. If parts of package is defective what is the procedure?
the cassette input to the system so as to hear on your stereo does not work -

What does one do?

Also the land repeater is fine in Boston, but outside Boston you must rely on Sat, or local stations, and the Sat antenna does not seem to pull things in as well as my GPS antenna.

20. Is this promotion still valid?
Just wondering.

I had not been considering XM since I get it w/ my Sat TV service. But a portable player would be nice.

21. I bought this package for my daughter.
It's fantastic.

The only problem is the car connector thingy: it's for a cassette player. Other than that, the deal is great!
