"When people accuse Michael Jackson of being a pedophile or a child molester ...
"... ask them to provide hard evidence. Ask them to provide an opinion rooted in fact, rather than one based on gossip, hearsay, and conjecture. Chances are, they won’t be able to. -Phonte

14 counts - EVEN the lesser ones.

"There were 10 counts and then 4 lesser-included…that was “serving alcohol to a minor”, which the judge added to give the jury an option to find him guilty of “something” -Aphrodite Jones

"It's a result of spin from the media and not knowing the evidence. If you really looked at the evidence in the case, they had nothing. They had absolutely nothing. You can't spin a conviction. You've got to have evidence to support it, the evidence wasn't there." -Tom Mesereau, Jay Leno Show, June 17th, 2005

Tom Mesereau on LA DA Tom Sneddon: "He flew to Australia at one point in the mid 1990s to try to find an alleged victim and the person said 'take a hike, get out of here'. He had a website at the sheriff's dept. to see if he could find witnesses to build a case. It was like an open casting call on Michael Jackson and the best he could come up with was this family that we thoroughly discredited from A to Z." -Tom Mesereau, Jay Leno Show, June 17th, 2005

"What they were saying was that this kid had cancer and that he (Michael) intentionally plied him with alcohol so that he could molest him and if you know Michael, you say 'this is absurd'. They were also saying he masterminded a conspiracy to abduct a family and bring them to Brazil. Michael Jackson wouldn't even know how to conceive of such a thing. Michael Jackson is an artist. He's a creative spirit, he likes to sit in a tree and compose music and he freely says that." -Tom Mesereau, Jay Leno, June 17th, 2005

…You’re just like “okay, none of you people have your stories straight. You just want money.” That’s basically what the jurors told me after the fact, was that, you know, they thought these people were gold diggers, including the Chandlers, and including Martin Bashir. -Aphrodite Jones

"Something rotten has been decaying at the the heart of our media for some time now, but it took the death of one of its favorite page-fillers to expose the reality of what the cumulative effect of deliberate mental and emotional attack on a person actually looks like. It must surely now be apparent that the existing regulatory checks and balances within the media are totally inadequate –and further, that those monitoring capabilities are unable to prevent the now standard ‘take aim’ and ‘destroy’ default position the media now typically seems to operate from in relation to the subjects it ‘goes after.’…

What killed Michael Jackson was the sustained agony of being put through a baseless, protracted trial in full view of the world’s lens – knowing if found guilty, he would be removed from his children’s lives. And even after his acquittal, facing relentless vilification by a media that chose to simply disregard a verdict they found economically inconvenient." -Deborah Ffrench

“Nothing.”—What the FBI found over and over again when it did a forensic search of Jackson’s computers for the 2003-05 child-molestation case that resulted in Jackson’s acquittal. http://www.mj-777.com/?p=1238

"It says a lot that the LAPD and Santa Maria PD, in concert with the FBI spent all these years investigating every little detail and accusation against Michael and still came out the other side with absolutely NOTHING except a complete ACQUITTAL (ie: Not Guilty) on all 14 counts in the ONE case that did actually have enough substance (barely – the prosecution’s case was pathetic) to make it into a courtroom."

1. You've surely been MJ's most ardent and dedicated supporter
I remain of an open mind. I find the last decades of Jackson's life to be largely, very very sad and a waste of a considerable talent.

2. The last attempted prosecution of MJ was awful
That DA going on tv laughing and joking about a supposed molestation case? Asking for anyone to come forward? The DA should have been prosecuted for misconduct at the least, especially after MJ was exonerated. He was just hoping to pad his resume with a conviction of such a popular person, and a person of color at that.

3. How about one child being able to describe MJ's penis in great detail?
That's all the proof I needed.

6. Once again, thanks Triana!
Ah, I remember this well. I was so relieved that the jury used their brains and found an innocent man not guilty. They made Tom Sneddon look like a fool. He was such a dick head toward our Michael. I hope everytime Michael's name is mention on tv, newspapers, magazines and the internet, Sneddon has a bout with the runs. Have fun in the bathroom, Sneddon...you SOB!

He may have been found not guilty, but he was a strange creep.

13. Michael Jackson ... crafty, stupid or too sensitive (jury's out)
While I could not believe that Michael would run into the same hangman's noose again in the 21st century after a narrow escape during the 90's I never considered how easily I could turn round to a sick child and refuse to allow them to share my bed (if they asked! ... I've never heard who suggested sharing bed)

It's easy to judge him but you're not the person who had to look into the child's eyes and say that you've got cancer, I know that must be scary for you but you're still not gonna sleep in my bed (you're going to go and sleep down the hall on your own).

In addition I would like to add that if it is true that children liked to follow him everywhere he went in his home a child could have walked in on him in. If the child's description was accurate (and I don't recall reading that the child's description was accurate) then certainly there should have been grounds to charge him back in 1993 with indecent exposure (and to a minor at that).

The convenience of these allegations (touching) meant that no concrete evidence would ever surface making it hard to prove or disprove. It was always going to come down to our emotions and how we feel about Michael (if we think he is wacko "guilty", if we think he is a good person that has been misunderstood "innocent"). My personal gut feeling is that he was innocent.

15. No. The description was inaccurate.
But we'll let the tabloid believing numbskulls up top believe they are right. If certain individuals really believe a person is a pedophile, why continuously post on topics about this so called pedophile. Things that make you go hmm.

Welcome to DU, btw.

17. Sorry ... but sometimes the allegations are false!
I personally know some, who I believe are, genuine victims and, embarrassed to admit, others that turned out to be false allegations (including one that went as far as an internal before it was established that the allegation was false).

It's terrible to admit, but from my experience I've found out that some people are malicious enough and are capable of pressuring their own children to lie about this sensitive issue.

That is why the evidence and investigations are necessary.
