2. Zappa/Beck connection
http://www.lyricstime.com/frank-zappa-magic-fingers-lyrics.html

mentions Jeff is the last line.

Finally saw Beck a few years ago at the Chevy Theater in Wallingford. Good show, except for the middle aged fans insisting on yelling "GO JEFF" through pretty much the whole concert.

Beck and Rod Stewart and maybe Nickie Hopkins and others play uncredited on a Zappa produced group called The GTO's (Girls Together Outrageously) back in 1969.

Zappa had a lot of respect for Jeff's guitar playing.

thanks for the link.

Now here's some Beefheart we hope you really enjoy.

"Mr Zoot Horn Rollo, hit that long lean note and let it float." at 50 seconds in.

3. Ah! the Captain...
Saw him at the Lone Star Cafe on my 18th birthday in 1980.
In fact, they wouldn't let me in the door until after midnight.
Then they gave me my first legal drink on the house.
That was 3 weeks before what happened last night.
I didn't go to another show for months after that...

One of my favorite Jeff Beck clips:
