"Mama Mia" is AWFUL!!!!!!!!!
This movie is wrong on so many levels, I couldn't begin to list them all. But one thing that drove me crazy is how they bathed the mother and daughter in this white halo light in many of their scenes. And I couldn't tell if it was a directing mistake or deliberate. Every once in a while a really bad movie becomes a hit.

9. I watched it on cable a few months ago on a night when I was out of sleeping pills.

That's 90 minutes of my life I wish I could get back.

Take the play "Starlight Express" and combine it with the episodes of the old Battlestar Galactica where Starbuck was captured by the strange white crystal space ship... add music... that's Xanadu.

My next-door-neighbor when I was like 12 loved that movie. But he also used to put barbie doll heads in his butt and smell them.

11. More on Xanadu
Just saw this post at ATC: "After talking about how she was having a hard time learning the lines for the Mt Olympus scene so they gave her cue cards, they announced on the View that tomorrow (Thursday) they will air a behind the scenes piece of Whoopi at Xanadu."

25. One of my guilty pleasures!
I really want to go see the Broadway version.

I have no desire to see Mama Mia, though.

I can't see that the movie would be terrible. Of course, I haven't seen it yet, but ABBA music is great.

12. You obviously have NOT heard Pierce Brosnan sing.
I saw a clip on The Daily Show and I asked my wife, "Why did they make Pierce Brosnan do that?"

However I couldn't control my laughter when Pierce Brosnan started singing SOS. That was just wrong.

16. UMMM...It's ABBA....HELLO!
Are you kidding me? This movie is about ABBA! When was this group ever taken seriously?

Bottom line...it's not meant to be a serious movie...it's simply meant to be entertainment! Just enjoy the music and go with the flow and don't question anything! If you take my advice...you'll be less stressed and stronger in the long run! Trust me!

18. They should have been taken seriously.
From their early, fun stuff to their late breakup material, they made tons of great records.

Nobody should go to it expecting fine cinema.

22. That's why I'm glad for cable
I can decide whether or not to see it. Besides, if there's anyone dumb enough to bootleg it and sell it, they better charge $1.00 (.50 if they're smart) 'cause after I saw the trailer that's exactly what the movie is worth!

Her only wish now is to be given away by her dad at her wedding. By reading her mother's diary she discovers that she has three possible fathers. Sophie then secretly invites all three men to the wedding in a desperate bid to discover which of them is her father before the wedding bells start to chime!

26. Probably because it was geared toward hardcore ABBA fans
When a musical or movie is made with diehard fans in mind, quality can easily go out the window. Kind of like that cheesy Spice Girls movie a decade ago.
