4. The qualifications & how-to's for writing nonfiction

would be best explored in Wrtiers Market or in Michael Larsen's How To Write A Book Proposal which is geared towards the serious nonfiction writer. You may also want to examine the style of writing depending on the audience via MLA Style Manual: Guide to Scholarly Publishing. Those should DEFINITELY be in the library or ask the librarian.
