I'm really enjoying Box's novels about a Wyoming forest ranger, Joe Pickett. I'm in the middle of his lastest one, FREE FIRE, and hate to keep reading it because I'll feel bad when I'm done with it.


I recommend his books, starting with the first one - there are 7 in the series. They grow on you. He has a new one coming out but it's not about Joe Pickett. I'm on the list.

I read all of the Archer Mayor novels about Vermont that my library has. I enjoyed them but Archer tends to over-describe, and as someone in this group posted about some other books, there are driving directions to every scene which I got tired of...characters are likable though.

It gives a desciption of CJ's 8 novels and the title, BLOOD TRAIL,of his new one coming out May/08.

I really enjoyed these. Start with the earliest one and work up. He improves with every book.
