I went to a DFA meeting and there are 35+ more pissed-off voters!
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 10:17 PM by IndyOp
Democracy for America met tonight in my town and I got permission to talk for 5-minutes at the start of the meeting about vote fraud. The first thing I did was to ask people to raise their hands if they were at all concerned that something fishy might have happened with the election and they all did! They had suspicions, but not enough information.

Once I started talking about Bev Harris' evidence that vote fraud impacted the results in Florida in the 2000 election and all of the evidence (forensic and statistical) that has been accumulating about vote fraud in this election, I wound up talking for about an hour because everyone got so churned up that they kept firing questions at me!

I left after an hour because they were supposed to show a video about George Lakoff's ideas for transforming the Democractic Party - but when I walked out the door they were still debating what they should do next to force recounts.

Yippee!

5. Great Job!
It's incredible how many Kerry supporters are not aware of all the voting irregularities that went on! Many are still shaking their heads in disbelief. We need to get the word out! Thank you!:)

6. why transform the democratic party when we won!
Transforming the voting system is the biggest challenge.
Good for you for speaking at the meeting. Wish I could
have been there to hear you.

7. Good Job. More people should do this.

Walking into a meeting in person, you can shed a ton of baggage. You're no longer an Internet Conspiracy Theorist. Walk in with a good old fashioned dead-tree newspaper with one of our articles in it, now that we have some, wave it around, and get our base working on this.

Lord knows they need something to unify over other than the task of self-criticism that seems to be the focus these days.

8. glad it went that way for you. Mine was different
I went to my local meet-up tonight, my first one ever, and the moderator chick who insisted on blathering through most of the meeting didn't want to talk about it, in fact right at the beginning she made it clear by saying "we lost! The recount won't change anything! So let's talk about other stuff".

I felt like I was back in high school.

9. If that happens to others...

Be polite, but insistant. And if they turn on you and tell you essentially to shut up, walk out, saying "maybe the Green Party isn;t such a bad idea."

10. oh, I was pretty voiciferous
I told them that I was done with the Democratic Party because the Democratic Party had led us under a rock. I said we needed a new party and I was hoping that DFA would be that. I said the only way I'd stay with the party is if Howard Dean became the head of the DNC.

I sorta fired things up and when I talked about e-voting everybody seemed to mumble a lot of agreement with me, and then many others mentioned the e-voting as well.

Everybody seemed great, just this girl running the meeting was a real pain in the ass. She had this "well let's keep things moving" attitude.

Maybe I'm just a grumpy asshole. I don't knoww
