We've got to face the hard truth. JK can't win without Ohio.

And Ohio is fucked up right now. 68 percent reporting and Kerry is still down by four.

Exit polls had him UP by FIVE. The exit polls cannot be that far off. Exit polls are the most accurate polls we have.

People didn't stand in line for two hours in the rain to vote for more of the same. We didn't have record turnout to vote for more of the same.

This is a really screwy deal.

Are there heavy urban / minority precincts that haven't reported yet?

Because if there aren't, we're toast.

***********

Okay, NBC just called Ohio for Bush. It's over.

Now you know why they ran a negative campaign--it works . . . Shit.

I believe that's why DU banned them from being posted here.

8. The national polls were way off but exit polls were good--that's why
networks called Florida for Gore.

Gore DID win Florida until Kathleen Harris and Team Bush thwarted democracy.

2. the difference
is 2%

please remember, the rural areas get counted first...big urban areas like cleveland, and cleveland's biggest precincts, will bring up the rear.

12. Do you read the posts before you respond? Because my problem is
that six hours ago, exit polls had JK up by five and now he's down by three.

What somebody said last week is wholly immaterial at this point.

6. I hear ya.
What's up with Ohio?
After losing FL, this is the crown jewel in the election.

Once the results come in, we'll know who's going to win.

7. OHIO is a *%$!!@@ MESS, some people waited 9+ hours, not yet voted
On one of the networks they said people have been waiting for over 9 hours in OH to vote.

One of the voter protection groups has sued, and won, for some improvised type of way to let these people vote besides making them stand out in the dark, cold rain well past midnight.

The story was reported and discussed by pundits about 30 min ago, I have not found any links. Please post links if you find them.

10. Yes, Ohio is the new Florida.
It's insane that anyone would need to wait even 2 hours to fricking vote.

11. Is that what the problem is?
I'm wondering why the networks haven't called Ohio. I mean, if you look at the county-by-county map on CNN, it shows that most counties have reported 100% and that Kerry is down by 140,000.

13. Link to OH debacle, ruling for improvised voting
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20041103/us_nm/election_ohio_dc_9

...Meanwhile, the Democratic Party obtained an order in federal court requiring election officials in two central counties to let voters use paper punch card ballots as well as touch-screens to speed up the lines.

But the Ohio attorney general filed an appeal of the ruling, adding to the confusion....

18. Hehehe, I drove two states away to campaign for Howard Dean
and I'm in so many "peace and social justice" organizations I can't keep track of them. I was holding up a sign in front of an Air Force base a week ago Monday.

Save it.

I thought maybe somebody could explain what's happening in Ohio. This isn't conspiracy theory, this is simply looking at the facts and trying to make sense of them.

They don't make sense right now.

17. Kerry needs (1) FL, or (2) OH + NH
Assuming Kerry gets HI, NV, MN, IA, and MI.

WI and NM looks like Kerry too.

20. Exit polls
Exit polls certainly can be far off. Depends on how many people refuse to answer, and depends on where they poll. Do you know the margin of error?

There's folks who are voting for Bush but are too embarrassed to admit it, which I can certainly understand. I don't think Kerry voters are generally all that embarrassed, except maybe in very strong Repub districts.

21. They usually hand them cards to fill out so it's totally anonymous.
Also, they poll every tenth or twentith person so if one person refuses to participate, another random person can be chosen.

I suppose if you got a bunch of really busy Bush voters who didn't have the time to respond versus a bunch of Kerry voters who wanted to let the world know how they voted, it could throw off the results.

But certainly exit polling is better than phone polling or anything else we've got.
