HISTORIC SUCCESS TO BE REPEATED WITH ALL-DIGITAL ELECTION BY EVERYONE COUNTS
Honolulu Again Chooses Everyone Counts to Provide Universal Access Elections

The City and County of Honolulu have selected Everyone Counts, Inc. — a world leader in transparent, secure, and accessible elections for all voters — to deliver internet and telephone voting for the 2011 Neighborhood Board Elections. This year’s election will build upon 2009’s success and historical landmark, as it became the nation’s first all-digital election.

Growing costs and the desire to increase accessibility drove Honolulu to search for alternative methods to better the election process. Running a paper-based election, in addition to polling site supplies and personnel, can cost millions of dollars for large governments. In 2009, with the use of Everyone Counts’ eLect Universal™ (online) and eLect Access™ (telephone) voting solutions, Honolulu was able to save over $100,000.

“Our objective in the Honolulu Neighborhood Boards’ and in every election we support is to offer increased accessibility, convenience and security for all voters while saving money for governments and taxpayers. We are thrilled to once again be chosen to deliver the most secure, reliable and transparent election for Honolulu voters,” remarked Lori Steele, Chairman and CEO of Everyone Counts.

“We are delighted to be working with Everyone Counts again. We were able to save over $100,000 in taxpayer funds and provide a secure and convenient election experience in 2009. We look forward to building upon this success,” says Bryan Mick of the City and County of Honolulu’s Neighborhood Commission.

The digital capabilities allow all voters, but especially disenfranchised voters, such as military and overseas voters, voters with disabilities, and other remote voters, convenient access to their ballots. Through the use of auditable, military-grade encryption technology every vote is securely cast and counted.

Everyone Counts is working with the City and County of Honolulu to create and distribute individual passcodes to voters via mail. The election will run from May 2 at 12:00 a.m. and will remain accessible until May 20 11:59 p.m. (HST). The election can be found at www.honolulu.gov/nco. Voters also have the secure option of voting over the telephone, by calling toll-free, 888-907-6717.

Trusted by election officials worldwide, Everyone Counts uniquely combines election and technology expertise to deliver the most reliable, transparent and secure election solutions for all voters. Established in 1996 and headquartered in California with offices in London and Melbourne, our team of experts has delivered thousands of secure elections to voters in over 160 countries using the secure eLect Platform™.
