Federal Judge Rules in Favor of NC GOP in Touch-Screen Vote Flipping Complaint. NCGOP atty Tom Farr: What I heard in the argument today was, the problem with the touchscreen voting machines are the fault of the voters, not the State Board and we have to preserve the integrity of the State Board and its reputation. 1. If each vote produced a verifiable checksum, then e-voting would work
Unfortunately, no one is doing this

2. Maybe the judge needs to know this...

There is absolutely no reason for a electronic voting machine to be hooked to any kind of outside communication line, either directly or otherwise. Get the votes out from behind a locked door. To change programing, another locked door with an entirely different type of key. The same person would not have access to both keys.

But having said that, electronic voting machines are computers and can be programed to do whatever. Paper trails do no good because what is recorded for a vote inside, can be different than the print out.
The best course of action is not to use them at all. Paper Ballots and ball point pens. It is not important to know the final count bythe 10:00 news on election day. Accuracy of the vote count is. So what if you have to wait a week.
