WV: Absentee Ballots Flip Two Races in Lincoln

Absentee Ballots Flip Two Races in Lincoln

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Election results in Lincoln County's two most hotly contested races flip-flopped after absentee ballots and results of early voting were tallied.

Candidates for the County Commission and circuit clerk races who were losing at the polling places picked up absentee and early votes at a ratio of close to 4 to 1.

"You would historically hope or expect the early or absentee votes to be close to what happens on the day ," O'Donoghue said. "Purely as a matter of mathematics, I would expect the ratios to be somewhat close to each other."

Last week, Harless and state Sen. Ron Stollings, D-Boone, asked the state Supreme Court to intervene in the election process over the large number of absentee ballots. Court officials declined.

Harless and Stollings believe Lincoln County officials were taking absentee ballots that had already been filled in to county voters and asking them to return the documents to the courthouse.

Chuck Miller, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia, said he is aware of the large number of absentee ballots in Lincoln County. "That's certainly something that would cause you to wonder," he said.

"We have read the information about the absentee ballots in Lincoln County, and we'll take the appropriate action."

2. the allegation is that of absentee by mail ballot fraud
it hasn't been proven but it could very well be so.

Its either due to vote selling/buying or harvesting.

But then what could have happened is that a candidate urged absentee by mail voting.
