Kudos to Bradblog! and DU this Vote!
Hey DU,
You can vote early and often for our hardworking friend, Brad Friedman! (Weblog Award voting rules permit you to cast a vote in any of the 50 or so categories every 24 hours.)
Vote here http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-liberal-blog /

This from Bradblog...

As The BRAD BLOG hobbles wrist-wrecked and flu-fallen towards the finish line of a particularly harrowing and exhausting year, we're heartened by a very nice distinction, being named as Finalist in the 2008 Weblog Awards.

We hadn't even realized we were in the running, until the list of nominees was announced last night. So we're pleased to find ourselves in very distinguished company for the "Best Liberal Blog" nod:

* Hullabaloo
* Think Progress
* Sadly, No!
* The BRAD BLOG
* Blue Gal
* Orcinus
* Truthdig
* Wonkette
* Taylor Marsh
* Shakesville
* Crooks & Liars
* The Confluence
* Glenn Greenwald's Unclaimed Territory
* Talking Points Memo

We don't much care for the "Liberal Blog" label, but as neither "Best Independent Blog" nor "Best Non-Rightwingnut Blog" were available categories, and given the company we're honored to share, we'll take whatever we can get and note --- as it is said, and we mean it --- the honor of simply being nominated.

Online voting for the title begins right here at the Weblog Awards site on Jan 5th. Though given the sizes of the (mostly) group blogs we're nominated alongside, as mentioned, we're honored to have simply been nominated, without even campaigning, as Finalist. :-)

It's in the "Best Midsize Blog" category here.

6. Let's give DUer Larisa Alexandrovna's blog (At Largely) some votes too.

LaLa_RawRaw's blog "At Largely" is up for the mid-size blog category. Let's give her a DU bump! Perhaps we should start a separate thread for this!

14. Done! Election reform is THE key to our future as a democracy. BradBlog has served
above and beyond the call of duty on this vital issue. Just about everything else on the internet is blather, in my opinion--especially leftist political analysis that does not mention rightwing, corporate-run 'TRADE SECRET' vote counting and the deliberate and systematic disenfranchisement of the American people.

The True Bluers, the ones who really believe in government of, by and for the People, are addressing the practical, strategic, power issue of who is counting the votes. NOTHING is going to change until we restore transparent vote counting. That is the bottom line of democracy, and it is the essential first step toward any serious, meaningful reform.

There are a lot of brave, tenacious people working on this issue. BradBlog has helped keep the rest of us informed about their work, and has raised the alarm on the egregious flaws in our inherently fraudulent election system. An invaluable web site!
