Proposal for (real) progressive change...
IF the population of the US is really center-left as we believe (based on response to issues and not self-identification) and not center-right as the pukes claim.

AND

There are tens of millions of voters out there who do not have their votes counted because of apathy and theft and rethug dirty tricks.

THEN

It seems to me that a strategy that could be very successful for us would be:

1) reform the electoral process (to insure that everyone who is eligible is registered)

2) push President Obama and the Dems to go hard left on issues

3) use the bully pulpit of the presidency to explain the policy changes being pursued (and blocked by the pukes)

4) emphasize the GOTV effort at the next election.

Rather than pussy-footing around and trying to appease the middle and the right which will give us little or nothing in terms of real progress, govern as the liberal the GOP has labeled Obama and the party as.

I would think that increasing the turnout of people inspired by progress and not just an anti-Bush sentiment and protecting those millions of votes would eventually lead to the extinction/castration of the republic party. It may take a cycle or two, but if we believe that we are correct, then the inevitable result would be larger and larger victories for our side.

I would be willing to accomplish little in the short term (being blocked by the pukes for this congress) for the anticipated result of an even larger majority after 2010.

To recap:

Center-right appeasement plus status-quo elections equals little or no progress and eventual failure.

Liberal policies plus massive turnout equals progress and greater victory.
