Fla. Panel Approves 2004 Election Results
By BRENT KALLESTAD, AP

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - It was a wish come true Sunday for Florida's elections officials: no cameras, few questions and a clear decision.

Unlike four years ago, when scores of television satellite trucks and hundreds of reporters camped outside the Capitol, the state canvassing board quietly certified the results of the Nov. 2 general election, in which President Bush captured the state's 27 electoral votes by a comfortable margin.

"I think everyone is glad the election has come and gone," Secretary of State Glenda Hood said.

But referring to a handful of staffers and a couple of reporters observing the certification, she added, "It's a little lonesome."

Things were so routine Sunday that the canvassing board members who voted, Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher and Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Bronson, called in from home with their approval.

The third member, Attorney General Charlie Crist, didn't take part. Only two votes were needed.

When the canvassing board met in 2000, then-Secretary of State Katherine Harris prematurely declared Bush the winner. But it was a nearly a month later before the U.S. Supreme Court certified Bush's 537-vote victory margin over Democrat Al Gore in Florida to finally settle the outcome after weeks of recounts and legal wrangling.

This time Bush won Florida by nearly 381,000 votes over Sen. John Kerry.

2. I think that means they have finished counting all
the ballots from the election. Challenges and the such... I don't think those are resolved. Am I wrong, anyone?

5. As Bev Harris said
BREAKING -- SATURDAY NOV 13 2004: Black Box Voting has launched a fraud audit into Florida. Three investigators (Bev Harris, Andy Stephenson, and Kathleen Wynne) are in Florida right now. We will initiate hand counts on selected counties that have not fully complied with our Nov. 2 Freedom of Information request by Monday (Diebold counties) or Tuesday (other counties).

9. It's going to expose that nobody
in Florida can get the same total twice.

Despite spending millions on equipment that Glenda and Jeb assured us was totally reliable.

10. isn't a citizen's count though only the same as what the papers did post
2000? i.e not an official challenge, just a 'for information purposes only' effort. So even if there were widespread irregularities if the election is not contested nothing could be done about them?

12. First clue, look at all the numbers for undercounts in the Presidential,,,
.......race.

How hard do you think it is for an election official or poll worker to look at the sign in book for your party affiliation and then hand you the wrong pen to mark your ballot?

Expect many votes to have been lost by this method. But those are only the start.

It wasn't a conspiracy, it was an agenda! :kick:

15. check out this under/over vote analysis & report
an analysis and report of under/over votes in FL that was done in 2003 by a man named Paul Craft. It will be something to compare to when they fork over the 2004 under/over counts

13. it means that that is the official count
they can't be contested until they give us a total of what they say the countis. Then we have 10 days to request a recount.

16. Now the fun begins
If the lawsuits and recounts don't start flying now we are all screwed. Gore was criticized for challenging before certification, which slowed down the counting (if you can call it that) and reduced the time for the recount.

Let's just hope that somebody with a recount fund steps up in Florida. We've given to Ohio and NH, the least Kerry can do is contest Florida.
