It's official - Olbermann's on vacation..
From Keith himself:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240 /

Now that we know our premier champion is fine and (hopefully) getting some well-deserved rest, I think we need to get back to fanning the flames of the other conspiracy theories (and by saying conspiracy I am by no means saying they are untrue)...

Frankly, this CIA dump of non-loyals is frightening the bejeebers out of me.

But that's another thread....

6. RUAWHACKO, I am curious of the notion about purging the CIA? What
does this mean and why is it frightening? Does it mean this administration is even freer to do more harm to this country?

7. The CIA purge....
Opening paragraph:

"WASHINGTON -- The White House has ordered the new CIA director, Porter Goss, to purge the agency of officers believed to have been disloyal to President George W. Bush or of leaking damaging information to the media about the conduct of the Iraq war and the hunt for Osama bin Laden, according to knowledgeable sources."

It is being discussed here:

9. They are asking for a backlash
Both the number 1 and number 2 men in the CIA. I wonder if they know any strings to pull.
But yes the idea of a CIA completely loyal to bushco is about as scary as .... as .... as .... well I can't think of anything else to compare it to. It is in a league of its own.

5. nice closing comment from the blog
Oh and by the way: how come the Kerrys winning part of the election night exit polling is presumed to have been wrong, or tampered with, but the Moral Values part of the same polling is graded flawless, and marks the dawn of a new American century?

10. Pardon my ignorance but...
what is this "tin hat" stuff I keep hearing about? Obviously it's a derogatory statement but I don't know the origin.

Thanks

12. It's a dismissive term that means, "you're crazy"
Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 08:31 PM by crickets
It orginated from ridicule of people who think that the government is sending out signals to control their minds; one of the strategies for calming them was to tell them to wear tin foil hats to block the thought rays. People use the term now to make fun of those who are interested in UFOs, or who think that there may be a shadow government, or any other idea that is considered silly by the mainstream. While most of the "mind control" set should get some sympathy for suffering genuine illness, and the subset of the UFO crowd who scream, "I've been on the Venusian mothership!" are pretty mock-worthy, the term often gets thrown at people unjustifiably. Kinda like the "conspiracy theory" phrase.

Sometimes humor is the best defense:

Probably more detail than you wanted. ;)

Edit: Oops! The Venusian Mothership people also deserve some sympathy for probably suffering from mental problems. That said, I don't think everyone interested in UFOs is crazy. My bad.
