Looks Like Pennsylvania Has a New "Diebold Girl"
Edited on Thu Feb-14-08 10:42 AM by Yellow Horse

Maryann Spellman Young, Director of Elections for Lackawanna County.

Watch her in action yesterday as she pimps Diebold (Premier) to her ignorant County Commissioners; talking them into buying Diebold touchscreens just as well as any Connie McCormack or Linda Lamone:

Commissioner Michael J. Washo, Chairman

And oif you want to contact the new Diebold Girl herself:

2. Thanks for the info! "Houston, we have a problem!" And it's called....
...CORRUPT STATE AND COUNTY ELECTION OFFICIALS!

Wherever corporations go, they spread corruption, and their culture of secrecy and lies in the interest of profit.

We need to ban them from our election system, not only because their crapass voting machines cost billions, not only because they can and do steal elections, and not only because these are PARTISAN REPUBLICAN CORPORATIONS, but because they destroy the concept of public service, which is more vital and fundamental to elections than to any other public system. Objective, disinterested public service in the administration of our elections in, indeed, the bottom line of our democracy. Without it, we don't have a democracy.

People like Maryann Spellman Young need to be evicted from public office, along with the corporations they serve!

4. Ms. Young said one of the key factors in opting for the Premier touch-screens...
...was “voter comfort.” The devices are similar in both design and operation to the AVS machines, which county voters quickly embraced after their introduction two years ago.

“This is an important election year, and we will not be reinventing the wheel for the voters,” she said.

<...>

The selection came just five days after the state Commonwealth Court rejected a motion that would have barred Lackawanna and two other counties that had AVS machines from replacing them with another touch-screen device.

<...>

Ms. Young said Premier machines are certified by the state and used in 16 other counties in Pennsylvania. In all, she said, 46 counties use some type of touch-screen machines.

“Moving forward in lockstep with 46 other counties is never a bad decision,” Commissioner Corey O’Brien said.

There ya go: wouldn't want to reinvent the wheel, and moving in lockstep is never a bad decision.

7. No joke. This is for real in the targeted, crazy, Keystone State of Pennsylvania.

I wish it WAS a joke.... but it is true. Two of the three counties that went off WINvote are going with more DREs.

Northampton with USED Sequoia Advantages.
Lackawanna with Diebold / Premier TSX (some USED!)

Why my state wants to use our tax dollars to buy someone else's old junk is beyond me.
