What happened is that the guys working for the McHenry campaign registered to
vote in the town they were working in. Often campaign workers are told to do this.

Patrick McHenry voter fraud:Saturday, May 12, 2007
Not just one voter in question at Rep. Patrick McHenry's house!
CBS News reported today that Michael Aaron Lay, an aide to (the unmarried) Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), was arrested on voter fraud charges.
There is more to the story than you're reading in the CBS news item. LOTS MORE....
The funny thing about McHenry is this: I've received tons of tips from across the state, including one from an elected official who told me, "I can tell you Patrick McHenry is gay. I've known him long enough to know."
Now, I'm not saying he is gay, but he does seem to like engaging with Barney Frank. If you have not seen the video of their exchange, it's priceless....

If you go to Blog actives link, you can see the actual voter registration forms and more. Here is what North Carolina requires of citizens registering to vote:Anyone filling out a voter registration form in NC must state that they:"have been a resident of North Carolina, this county, precinct, or other
election district for 30 days before the next election in which I intend to vote."
And provide on that form:Address where you now live (Number and Street/Road/Dorm)
Address where you get your mail, if different from above (include ZIP code).
http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/pdf/form06.pdf 6 campaign workers used McHenry's address to register to vote -"The NCC has done its own investigation and discovered that during the 2004 election
there were 6 people registered to vote using the address of the candidate, Patrick McHenry. The house listed as McHenry’s residence at 1100 Requa Road, Cherryville, was
a three bedroom ranch style house. The NCC investigation revealed that several of the occupants of the house at 1100 Requa Road registered shortly before the August, 2004 primary. In particular, one occupant, Michael Aaron Lay, registered to vote in Gaston County while at the same time he was licensed to drive in Tennessee, operated a vehicle tagged in the State of Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee as an in State student.

They fear that McHenry may become a huge embarrassment, like Foley. Anyone close to McHenry will get singed.
NC Christian Coalition Chairman, Donnie Young, files complaint against Patrick McHenry campaign Dear North Caroina Conservative,
The following letter will be forwarded to the District Attorney of Gaston County and the NC SBOE. If you see fit to print this letter in your publication please do so in its entirety.
I filed a "complaint" with the NCBOE and Gaston County District Attorney in July 2004 because in my opinion the DA and the BOE needed to investigate the registration of voters in Gaston County.

It’s clear now that Republicans have much work to do to earn back voter confidence in the Catawba Valley. What’s also clear is that it’s time for ambitious 10th-District congressman Patrick McHenry to move on....
Yes, he often votes “the right way” and does serve individual constituents.
But he also lives a questionable lifestyle—in terms of 10th-District conservatism—with character and ethical issues. According to many witnesses, he’s inclined to big shindigs with free-flowing alcohol. More Republicans now see this side of him, but they held their noses and voted to keep the district from Democrat hands....
