What’s the Matter with the Incumbent Rule? By John Zogby
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 01:43 AM by djmaddox1
"The Bush team—the same team that occupied the White House for four years—successfully cast themselves as the outsiders in this election, fighting the Establishment, in the clearest example of a populist campaign we’ve seen since Bill Clinton’s 1992 race."

"But as the smoke clears from this year’s political battlefield, the task of governing is ahead. You can only run against the system for so long, and Republicans now have a very solid lock on most parts of the government. And it’s hard to run against the Establishment when you’re it."

1. Easily explained
the incumbent rule and the exit polls fly out the window when your elections are ELECTRONIC and your voters are SUPPRESSED

2. republicans are all about hypocrisy
they're pro-military but can't supply our troops with body armor or decent pay or veteran's care
they're conservative yet want radical change
they're responsible yet can't pay their bills
they want government off your back but in your sack
they call the northeast "elitist" yet insist that the heartland is the "real america"
they say a strong military is the road to peace yet they're constantly at war

and what's the real killer is that they're completely shameless about it. calling them on it accomplishes absolutely nothing, because they don't see hypocrisy as anything bad. it's merely another weapon in their arsenal.

5. More....A huge list would normally come to mind, but I'm brain dead.
They're 'pro-life' and pro guns and the death penalty

They're for 'freedom' and democracy and constantly intervene in the affairs of other countries forcing 'freedom'

They run on 'moral issues' but operate immorally

3. What a bunch of hooey this article is.
It's Zogby trying to cover his ass. Why did he call the election for Kerry based on the exit polls?

4. It means our elections were a joke and that facts don't matter.
I think it's as simple as that.

6. Some pollsters are scrambling to save their jobs.
Election polling is big business. When any pollster is wrong, as Zogby was in 2002 and 2004, one has to wonder where their credibility rests.
