TX: E-voting lawsuit goes before court
Actually, we know they can program it to get the results they want.

E-voting lawsuit goes before court

July 6, 2006

By MICHAEL MENDOZA / KVUE News

A legal challenge to Travis County's electronic voting system went before a state district judge Thursday. The question for the court: Should the system generate a paper trail?

The lawsuit was filed by the Texas Civil Rights Project. The group claims the electronic voting system violates the law because it doesn't produce paper ballots.

The Texas Civil Rights Project argues that voters have no way of knowing whether the votes they cast are properly recorded or stored correctly in the computer. They also say that electronic systems are prone to fraud or mistakes.

"Trust us...Let us program it. How do we know they can't program it to get the results they want? Where is our sense of priorities?" said Jim Harrington, Texas Civil Rights Project.

1. Travis County votes on Hart Intercivic eSlate DREs
Known for no vote for Kerry registering when voting "Dmocratic Slate" in November 2004.

7. Well, Hello Kelvin
I see you still have Bev-on-your-brain dis-ease.

The threads yall have run up are a symptom of the disease. Too bad you can't just take a pill for it and get on with important matters.

8. Actually, I am working on matters
I am working to get HR-550 passed. The bill that Bev is trying to stop since it will mean she will not be able to scam people for more money.

9. Good luck with that
It needs to be passed.

I like the idea of getting folks to vote AB. That is a good grassroots movement. Hey, let us know what's happening with 550, eh? I'm sure it could use some people power.

But from what I've heard about 550, if that can of worms is opened up, the pukes will steal the bait again and leave us with nothing but dirt.

4. It's just common sense to have a backup...

regardless of partisan affiliation, it just makes good sense to have a back-up in case the machine makes a mistake (which everyone recognises is a potential problem, forgetting the fraud aspect for just a moment). The voter can verify that those were the choices he/she wished to make, and if a mistake has been made, it can be corrected.
