The election was Stolen.
Democracy was buried alive by a private, secret vote counting industry financed by the Tom Delay passed HAVA.

Tom Delay quashed your right to elect a government by the people by using privately owned secret vote counting black boxes. The black boxes were used to steal the election in 2004 and the truth is coming out.

Stand up for your right to a government elected by the people. It cannot be proven that the election was fair and square, but it can be proven that many votes were lost down the Tom Delay black box voting hole!

Don't let Tom Delay get away with stealing your vote any longer. Demand that your right to have your vote counted correctly, openly and in public, be the first job the government does.

4. Tom Delay and Bob Ney, the two biggest crooks in Congress, are the
ones responsible for pushing this $4 billion boondoggle, the "Help America Vote for Bush Act."

No paper trail requirement, no controls on partisan vendors, no controls on the lavish lobbying of election officials or on "revolving door" employment, no controls on secret programming, no controls on secret industry 'testing' of the machines, and underfunded regulation by a Bush-appointed commission.

Made to order for corruption and election theft.

5. A simple rule: A Private VOTE, a PUBLIC COUNT

But even though the "vote in private" part might almost seem like an exception to the rule of elections being public, when you are voting in private, only as to your OWN BALLOT, there's nothing there that we need to monitor. You are free to screw yourself. You have the implements of your own destruction in your hand, namely a voting pen. It's your ballot, do what you will.

So, we can say that 100% of everything that needs to be public in any way shape or form IS public. Heck, even the "privacy" of voting is nothing more than a few square feet, and the fact that you are voting privately IS PUBLIC. You have to sign in, be seen by neighbors and pollworkers, etc.

The "privacy" exception to voting (i.e. the secret ballot) is really so narrow (though still important) that it would be more accurate to say

VOTE IN PUBLIC, COUNT IN PUBLIC

and drop an asterisk down that says you will be provided a 3 foot by 3 foot by 7 foot high curtained cubicle where we've insured that, although not public, you can damage absolutely nothing but yourself while in that "private" voting cubicle.

12. I seeeeee teeeeeee shirtsssss
Great quotation: "A Private Vote, A Public Count" I googled it and it appears to be an original Land Sharkism. When it comes out in 'Famous Quotations,' I'll say I saw it when he first wrote it. In the meantime... how about a T-Shirt and bumper sticker?

10. HAVA was a wet dream for repub election consultants aka
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 04:45 PM by Melissa G
Voting machine companies..and for whichever candidates they ( the voting machine companies) decided to like...
Since they ( Diebold et al) count the votes with no auditable trail and then they even get to manage the sorry excuse for a process that passes for an audit...well, they can smile in advance 'cuz they can pick the winner every time...
It's called an oligarchy.
Democracy is what they sell, rule by the corporate few is what they deliver.
Time for a peaceful second American revolution to take back our country and our rights and especially Take back our votes!

15. That was absolutely what was part of the stolen election of 2000 too
It was more convenient, however, to allow the "hanging chads" to obscure the other problems, AND to serve as wonderful bait for later passing HAVA.

I don't think they had touchscreens in FL 2000, but they sure as hell had optical scans which can use some of the same code that ended up in the Diebold machines, AND which had plenty of problems, most of which went unreported or unremarked in all the furor of the aftermath of the election.
