NSA Bugged Phone of Senior Kerry Campaign Advisor???
This issue is raised in an email Rep. John Conyers sent out regarding impeachment and related issues, as quoted in a thread in General Discussion.

Here's the election connection:
"The latest incidence of the Bush Administration's abuse of power underscores why we must unite to take strong action now. Late last night we learned that NBC is investigating reports that the National Security Agency (NSA) conducted wiretaps of CNN reporter, Christiane Amanpour. While it is very troubling that the NSA would be targeting journalists to uncover terrorist plots, what is especially disconcerting is that Ms. Amanpour's husband served as a senior advisor to the John Kerry presidential campaign and would have been using the same phone that the Agency is alleged to have been wiretapping..."

Anybody know anything else about this?

8. There was a thread posted on DU earlier
that said CNN had debunked the story but I can't find it now. Did anyone else catch that thread?

Not that I trust anything that CNN reports but I thought I should mention it.

10. Who is to say
Who is to say that it doesn't go even deeper than Kerry's political advisor?

Randi Rhodes suggested this scenario:

To keep the Republican Senate in 'lock-step' with the Neocon Agenda, it almost seemed as if they had something to hold over each members 'head'. Remember Republican Voinavich who balked at Bolton's nomination to the UN? He freaking cried on the Senate Floor (even though he did vote to get Bolton out of the Committee). He said that his children and his grandchildren deserved better, and that the senate ought to look hard and long before drinking from this deep well (whatever that meant). But if you listen to what he said on the senate floor, in tears, with the thought that this is a man being blackmailed.. it all makes sense.

One of the reasons that Bolton was opposed was the denial of release of documents where Bolton requested information from the NSA (thought to be wiretappings on Powell??). The Neocons refused to release the information, and it looked like there would be too many problems with an up and down vote, so Bolton was recess-appointed. (isn't his time up soon?)

Anyway, back to the wiretapping, if these thugs could wiretap without a paper trail, who can say they did or did not spy on political opponents, as well as their own party members, to keep them in lock-step with the agenda.

The Senate should be furious.

11. Makes you want to reread Orders To Kill by Wm Pepper....
If they were surveilling Dr. King, and possibly watching during the assassination--basically aiding and abetting even if they didn't participate-- domestic military intelligence has much to answer to.

Come now to the new millenium and they may still be aiding and abetting. It's akin to the Tienanmen Massacre, where the military obediently attacks the country's own people...without question. Following orders...

13. "Republigate" -- the Big Tent of Conspiracies: SPREAD THIS MEME
The Abramov bribes, the wiretapping, the lies about WMD, Liebald voting machine hacks, payola for press whores, outing of Plame, Jimmy-Jeff Guckert the wannabe press whore, the PNAC plan for world domination, the "leave-the-barn-door-open-and-it's-not-my-fault-if-the-horse-escapes" reaction to the PDB on OBL, the crusade of torture, Cunningscam kickbacks, the supression of whistleblowers, etc., etc., etc....

IT'S ALL ONE AND THE SAME!
