UnderstandingLife's MAJOR new DU publication ... "We the People...."
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 09:58 PM by Land Shark
You can get the DU link here (then download the pdf from the link there) It's a tour de force of the present political situation, in the spirit of Tom Paine.

http://tinyurl.com/ba6jb

The pamphlet also reproduces in their full length the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and Gettysburg address.

Section V focuses on elections (with the prior sections focuses on Iraq, Katrina, and related issues).

WARNING: LandShark has officially overshot his trajectory and is now quoted at six paragraphs' or so length, with only President Carter and President Lincoln also quoted at any length in the Section V on elections. This can only mean that my DU-limited 15 minutes of internet "fame" here on DU has officially ended, or will shortly. Icarus has been made to fly too close to the sun. But, I know that you are all in good hands: your own.

Be sure to give UnderstandingLife the all time record for kicks and recommends for this tremendous effort. http://tinyurl.com/ba6jb If elections is your need, start at page 57 of 63.

And from LandShark: good night, and good luck.

1. From the document...

"It is our right to know not only if our own personal vote was counted, but it is also our right to know that everyone’s vote counts the same; If our votes don’t all count the same, or if the public can’t know about and monitor its own elections, then we don’t have a democracy.

From the right to vote flow all other rights."

-Robert Franza (understandinglife)

3. "I know that you are all in good hands: your own." -- Land Shark.
Well said, in the spirit of understandinglife's thesis that citizens of this country don't have government; they properly are an integral part of the government.

This great work is the kind of owner's manual to democracy that every child and adult should be familiar with.

(And Land Shark: don't die on us now, buddy. We can get those wings rewaxed. ).

4. Yes, and that thesis segues rather nicely into public control of elections
if the public is the only legitimate source of power, precisely how do they get off hiding the election ball from the public?

14. I am just now seeing this thread and am truly humbled. Thank you.
The wonderful graphics artists who designed the front and back cover are now completing the typeset layout, again pro bono as to help keep the cost of publication as low as possible. The form factor of the typeset version is the same size of the initial version of "Common Sense."

As soon as a version is ready for download, I'll post a URL.

Am very grateful for all that many DUers have done and am especially honored that Land Shark contributed original text to the final section.

Now, if I can just find a publisher!!

Peace.
