Opportunity for FREE PSA production--can we use this?
Or other organizations we like? We/they wd have to submit application and be selected from among competing applications, but . . .

>From Deanna Sanchez of /Dallas:

Hello! On behalf of the Women in Film PSA Committee of Dallas, I would like
to let you know about an opportunity to have a Public Service Announcement
(PSA) created for your organization. Women in Film Dallas is accepting
submissions from non-profit organizations for consideration for its 2005
Public Service Announcement Program. One organization will be selected to
receive a professionally produced, pro-bono, polished national caliber
television PSA, which will include: Scripting, Casting Professional Talent,
Complete Pre- through Post-Production Services, Shooting on 35mm or HDTV
Formats, and Original Music Score.

The WIF Dallas PSA Program is modeled after a similar, very successful
initiative that was launched by the Los Angeles WIF chapter several years
ago. With a bias towards issues crucial to women and children, the program
provides a unique service to the community; it promotes causes that are
often in need of greater public exposure. Most non-profit organizations are
tightly budgeted and therefore poorly equipped to meet the prohibitively
high cost of a top-quality commercial production. With a pro-bono PSA,
exposure and public awareness of an organization‚s needs and programs are
greatly increased.

WIF.Dallas produced its first PSA campaign in 2002 for Gilda‚s Club
Worldwide, named after the late comedienne Gilda Radner who died of ovarian
cancer in 1989. Academy Award Winner Meryl Streep narrated. WIF Dallas
completed its second PSA in 2004 for VNA Meals on Wheels. VNA Meals on
Wheels serves meals to elderly residents and shut-ins throughout Dallas
County. Sharon Gless narrated the Meals on Wheels PSA.

Non-profit organizations are invited to submit an application. The
submission deadline is June 30, 2005. For volunteers who would like to work
on the project, please visit the WIF PSA Webpage at
http://www.wifdallas.org/psa.asp . We will need script writers as well as
crew and support people to make this project a reality.

Our WIF.D PSA Application form is now available for download. Follow the
simple instructions provided by our PSA Chair, Rebecca Rice, who may be
contacted at [email protected] .
To download the PSA application, please click here or go to
http://www.wifdallas.org/PSA_Application.doc .

Please visit our PSA webpage at http://www.wifdallas.org/psa.asp for more
information on our PSA program and to see the 2004 VNA Meals on Wheels PSA.

Please contact me at any time if you have any questions, or need further
information. Please also feel free to forward this information to other
non-profit organizations you think may be interested and who could benefit
from a professionally produced PSA. Thank you, and I look forward to
hearing from you soon!
