Hi all! :) Check out the "No Deal with Diebold!" summary page. It details why officials should NOT seal any deals with Diebold and shows them that there are alternatives out there.
Find it at: www.OpenVoting.org (click on Activist Resources)
We are also having a fund raising drive this week. Any donations for this week will be DOUBLED dollar-for-dollar (so if you donate $10, $20 gets donated!).
More details about what we've been up to lately: Remember when I asked people for information on Diebold so we could write a summary page to give to officials? Well, we wrote a summary page and gave it to activists in Humboldt and San Diego. I spoke to the Registrar of Voters in Humboldt and she was very interested in seeing alternatives to Diebold and will also join the effort of Registrars who are going to talk with the new California Secretary of State, Bruce McPherson, about supporting alternatives. The Open Voting group in San Diego is currently arranging to meet with the registrar down there and hopefully will get the message across to the registrar there as clearly as activists did up in Humboldt. Open Voting Consortium also joined Black Box Voting and other election reform activists to stop Alameda County from updating their contract with Diebold. There is going to be a public hearing about Diebold in Alameda County. We also are writing a report for the GAO (General Accounting Office) at the request of Congress about the insecure nature of electronic voting and what the Open Voting Consortium is doing to make secure voting systems for the future. Please visit our website, sign up for announcements (so you can get our monthly newsletter to stay informed), and donate during our fund drive when your money will be doubled!
