2. this may be do-able in all 50 states
AS part of my master plan in NJ, Referendums are a crucial part of a multi pronged tactical doctrine. The reason I am posting this is a result of some emails I traded with a lawyer from NJ APpleseed.

this can be huge--this is what is needed to slow the purchase of DRE's. In parralel with court action, educational forums, Town resolutions banning DRe;s, this is the route to victory.

3. I think so too. We've had some idiotic RW referendums in WA state,
it would be awesome to turnabout with one on vote machines.

4. right--but you have to lay the foundation first--
1)Educational forums, with public officials in attendance.
--A)Media will come to see public officials.
--B)Letters to the editers to thank Officials for their Support.
----this is vital Public Officials need support when they have some
----spine.
2)Building momentum--push municipalities to pass Resolutions Banning DRE's.
--A)More public forums-this time to talk about Resolutions Banning ------DRE's.. And to get the media in the loop again.

Now you have engaged the COmmunity for a period of time--increasing awareness on VOting Issues and educating them. YOu have built a consensus--you now may have the mandate to pass a referendum to ban DRE's at the County level.

5. In Ohio
Butler County, adjacent to, on the north of Hamilton County, and one of the three "ring" countiues which "delivered" the Bush margin here, and thus the EC, has just authorized purchase of DRE's. Not certain of brand. Why am I not surprised?
