Why aren't all
people, Republican, Democrat, Left, Right, whatever, outraged at the media for not reporting the truth? Why aren't they mad about being lied to? How can we tell them?

1. A lot of people don't think they are being lied to. They truly believe
that all this countries problems would be solved if all the liberals, gays, unions, the ACLU and any other organization or group that defends or supports the rights of individual citizens would just go away. Leaving in power their glorious republican leaders who are out to take away all their rights and ownership of their minds. Once we are all marching in lock step with corporate logos on our asses all will be right in the universe. Long live the Bush family. Their ability to prove to us how unbelievably stupid we can be will be studied in history classes years from now.

2. Afterall, what is a lie? A lie is something that most people believe
...is true, otherwise they would say "bullshit"!

3. The fact that people are not all outraged is a testimony
to the degree to which the GOP and specifically the bush administration has been able to control the flow of information. That's where it all happens, you control the information you have the ability to control thought.

What to do about it? The only thing we can do, keep hammering away, keep standing up, keep answering the call.

4. It's Not About Controlling The Dispensation Of Information
It's about controlling the perception of information - that's why the "liberal media" myth is so insidious and so powerful. The high sheriffs on the right realized many, many years ago that information was not going to be controllable for much longer. Watergate probably taught them that.

In the absence of controlling its movement, you control its reception. It's like steering a kid clear of drugs. You can't control whether of not your kid comes in contact with them - in fact, odds are against you in that regard. So instead, you attempt to control their perception of drugs. You tell them drugs are bad, drugs can harm you, drugs are evil, etc. So that when they encounter them, they're under the influence of your "spin".

Same applies to media. You can't guarantee that a right-wing partisan plebe will only encounter right-wing information. Therefore, you discredit *uncontrolled* information at its source. You tell the proles that all information is suspect, which effectively allows each one to pick and choose those things they want to believe. "Oh, that goes against my understanding of things, therefore it must be a product of the liberal media. But that other thing props up my view of things so it is not a product of liberal media." That's why so many right wingers have no problem accepting half of what newsperson X says and also ignoring the other half of what newsperson X says.

Liberals do the same - I personally tend to research the source of information before I decide whether it is valid or not. The problem is that our belief in the lapdog press has not seeped into the groundwater yet. Personally, I think this is the most important thing to tackle on our side because as long as right-wingers get to selectively listen to the news, we're never going to be able to get a consistent message in place.

8. perception - image is everything
you are right about perception. But I am also very resentful of the flagrant disregard of the antitrust division of the DOJ in regards to Media ownership. In my town of 50,000 people Gannett news owns the only paper in town, right wing media are virtually all that is available on the radio and many people here don't have cable or internet access or their kids just use it for research and IMing their friends, which leaves most adults with network news.

What is frustrating and insidious about this is that is it very obvious that it was accomplished in a very methodical, deliberate fashion. A map of the US and where would it be easiest to really control the "news" markets. They are not able to accomplish it in any major market areas, even Madison and Milwaukee are too big to control, that's why they went for the small markets.

Good news, my mom who is 66 told me that for Christmas she knows of several people that got computers for gifts from their kids for the sole purpose of being better informed - yeah!!!!!!!!

keep hope alive!

9. Better Informed Doesn't Equate to Change Though
While it's admirable that your mom's friends want to be better informed, it's entirely possible that they'll be "better informed" by going to web sites that simply support their views.

And your estimation of the method is right on. I think they realized that cities and urban centers will often be the stronghold of liberal values, so they've initially targeted smaller outlets. However, I fear they're now moving toward the cities. In live in Columbus, OH which ain't, I'll grant you, a hub of American culture but it is a fair sized city with progressive leanings. As of right now, two of our four broadcast channels are Sinclair, and the only major paper has been a right-wing mainstay for decades (going so far as to endorse Bush in 2004 even though, by their own admission, they had misgivings about him). I worry that they'll eventually infiltrate even the most liberal of areas and start to germinate.

13. it has been recent in our town. Gannett bought the paper in 2000!
So far the older folks I was speaking of are ones who have kids with DU mindsets that have said guys wake up there is more to this than the networks are telling you. What is great is that so far it is working. How ironic would it be if the "networks" in these small towns of American lead to the downfall of Bush through the medium that Al Gore established!

5. They can't handle the truth. or they don't want to, anyway
proving that ignorance is, in fact, bliss.

Bushco has it figured out pretty well, that many people would rather NOT know the truth, because the truth sucks. Unfortunate for those of us in the 'reality-based' world...

People don't want to admit that they are complicit in all these horrible things because then they would actually have to do something about it.

Which leaves a heavier burden on those of us who DO know, and who DO care.

IMHO.

6. Check out this amazing explanation from a conservative.....
This is how everyone should talk to conservatives about election fraud.
http://www.chuckherrin.com/LiberalEmpathy.htm
(check out conservative empathy (http://www.chuckherrin.com/ConservativeEmpathy.htm) when your done with the first)

Avoid triggers like,
Bush
Cheney
Rove
Kerry
Soros
Moore
'stolen election'
fraud
And reduce it to 'protection of our democracy' terms.

Keep in mind our issue is 'fixing the election system', NOT 'overturning the election' (as much as we would like that, it makes them stop listening, and puts them directly into 'combative mode').

Just my 2 cents.

10. Simple, the lack of truth helps certain people and viewpoints.
Why would they get mad about a "lack of truth" that helped their cause? Other than those people, the rest of them are just too mind numbed to give a rats fucking ass..

11. somewhere in the 70's...
the U.S. started going backwards-while the rest of the industrialized world stayed on a progressive path. The ruling classes in this country have pushed a "winner take all mentality" to enrich themselves, and the media has decided that "crap is king" for profits sake.

12. Because
despite 4 months of claiming "election fraud", no one has been able to produce any evidence that fraud existed. Many problems and irregularities but absolutely no evidence of the criminal act of fraud. Present real evidence of criminal fraud and the MSM will eat it with a spoon.

You may not like this answer, but that's why so few care about this subject.

15. That is not true. It is just people do not care about the other errors.
No election is perfect. Until you come up with any actual proof no one is going to be outraged and rightly so...

17. Electronic Fraud is INVISIBLE. Don't you get it?

Go ahead, take the output of the printer home with you. Nobody cares.

But now take the out put of the digitized data (that data can't be audited no matter HOW MUCH MONEY YOU SPEND!)

18. It's perfect...
Depressing, our side dropped the ball while they had this in the works for YEARS.

Their strategy was brilliant, in effect, using our fears or the last election to get us to sign on for WORSE fraud.

It makes me sick..
