1. Sadly, I knew his days were numbered! He got rid of Diebold...
they got rid of him! Period! They a brazen bullies! We KNOW that! So- what are we going to do about it? Their reach is getting bolder and larger because we are allowing it to happen...over and over and over and over again! When will enough be enough?

2. Bush Oil Cartel: the Texification, Bushification and Dieboldisaztion of...
...the Golden State.

This is IT, DUers! This is where we will win or lose the election reform struggle. Not in Congress (quite hopeless!). In the states! Right now. In CA. BushCons a thousand steps ahead of us.

Look for my post tomorrow, DU LETTER OF THE WEEK #4, aimed at CA legislators to stop Schwarzenegger from appointing a BushCon or a pro-Diebold Democrat as SoS, and to preserve Shelley's reforms (decertification of Diebold, paper ballot option). VERY, VERY, VERY URGENT!

4. Not just for us, but the whole country
our electoral votes could be the what tips Jeb over the line in 2008, and could have made Bush 2004 a seeming landslide if it hadn't been for Shelley.

6. IT IS Do or DIE(BOLD) TIME! SAVE CALIFORNIA OR ELSE!
SAVE CALIFORNIA, ITS THE NEW BATTLEGROUND STATE

FIRST: They went after Gray Davis and took over the governorship with Arnold.
SECOND: They went after Kevin Shelley and have forced him to resign.
THIRD: They will install an RNC thug as Secretary of State and will control California's voting system
FOURTH: They will mandate e-voting without paper (the bill is ready, the campaign begun)
FIFTH: California will become a red state

GAME OVER. If we don't save California's electoral system from take-over, the battle for our votes will be irreparably set back.

We need an all-out national effort starting now. I can't stress enough the urgency of this. If California's votes are controlled, the electoral college becomes a lock for the RNC.

EMERGENCY ACTIONS:

1. Call Kevin Shelley: 916-653-7244. Urge Him to rescind his Resignation (His resignation doesn't take effect until March 1st).

2. SEND MONEY to KEVIN SHELLEY'S DEFENSE FUND: He has expended a great deal of his personal funds so that he can continue to fight for fair elections. If we lose him, the struggle to save California's electoral system becomes much more difficult. Donate to Kevin Shelley's legal defense fund. Send donations to his accountants at:

Olson, Hagel & Fishburn
555 Capitol Mall, Suite 1425
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 442-2952

Make checks out to Legal Defense Fund.

3. Email California State Legislators. Demand they resist the takeover of California's election system. Insist on paper ballots for Californians.

We are setting up http://www.banthemachine.com for the campaign to save California. Suggestions are entirely welcome. Please use the site to organize, mobilize, and fight the campaign to save California's voting system from take-over (the site should be up in 24 hours).

THIS IS A CAUSE FOR ALL OF US! WE ALL MUST ACT QUICKLY AND IN COORDINATION.

I will look for email links for California State legislators.

Here is a page for state assemblypeople:

http://www.assembly.ca.gov/acs/acsframeset7text.htm

I am not yet sure what to say to them.

FBI Presence Shadows Legislature's New Session
# Sacramento's climate is clouded by inquiries tied to the secretary of state and Senate leader.

By Dan Morain, Times Staff Writer

SACRAMENTO — For the first time since the Capitol's "Shrimpgate" scandal more than a decade ago, California legislators open their session today knowing that the FBI is hovering not far away.

By issuing subpoenas, conducting searches and convening grand juries in Oakland and Sacramento, the feds have made their presence unmistakable as they investigate dealings by the new state Senate leader, Don Perata, and Secretary of State Kevin Shelley, a former legislator. Both men are Democrats.

On Edit:
Gee....I wonder why the FBI and the Elections Assistance Commission aren't investigating Ken Blackwell....

11. I guess your name has to be Tom Delay (or Blackwell) - - -
I cannot believe the audacity and the hypocrisy of the Republicans calling the Dems on ETHICS! Every day that goes by surprises me more and more in how fast we are losing ground.

12. I was wondering why some Dems were so aggressive in their
fight against him....

Then I did some research and found that the head of the audit committee, Nicole Parra, D-Hanford, is the one Dem in the Assembly from Kern County, one of the four Diebold counties whose machines Shelley disqualified.

snip--
The Joint Legislative Audit Committee is examining a state audit that accused Shelley of mismanaging $46 million in federal Help America Vote Act funds.

13. Can you find out who her donors are?
It's hard to believe democrats would fall on their swords just because their corporate donors tell them to.
