11. If ONE more Dem had voted against Gonzales today
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 08:05 PM by meganmonkey
he would not have been confirmed (is that right? They had 60 yays I think...?!). It's not as controlled as it looks. And given the polls lately about disapproval of Bush**, the War, the SOTU address, it is clear that a growing number of Americans (including Congresspeople) are waking up to the reality that Bushco does not represent a majority. The politicians, even the Repukes, are waking up to this - and as the 2006 congressional election gets closer, they will HAVE to start paying attention to what the people want. We only need a few Repukes. And Bushco will not relent - they're nuts. They just keep digging themselved deeper and deeper. And everyone knows they lie like the devil and people are dying needlessly for it. It can't go on for 4 more years. It is unsustainable.

You may call me a ridiculous optimist, or delusionary, I don't care. I refuse to believe that things can't change, otherwise there would be nothing to fight for. And I am not giving up.

KEEP HOPE ALIVE

22. No, you're wrong about the vote -
the confirmation needs simple majority. If all Democrats voted against, Gonzales would still have been confirmed.

7. Nope...but there's only so much crime you can allow
before you become guilty yourself. When DimSon crosses that line a sufficient number of normal republicans will refuse to cross with him.
They need votes too, after all, and aren't limited to two four-year terms.

27. Maybe we can start researching some of these
republicans who are supporting Bush and maybe find out if they have any criminal offenses or something? Here in TN either later this year or coming up soon we're supposed to be voting for a new Senator, so I wonder who will get replaced. I'm hoping Frist.

That Sen First plans to not run in 2006. Seems
he only wanted to be a Sen for so many years..
So yes his seat will be open it seems.

of Republican politicians for the country not to sink into ever deeper recession, while the country's hemorrhaging economic life-blood is draining into the sand in Iraq, along with that of your service people? Or is "Show me the money!" an utterance that would never pass through their innocent wee minds?

Rightly or wrongly, the impression I have is that capitalising Halliburton, Bechtel, the Carlyle Group, etc., alone, may satisfy the neocons personally, but that they must share the view that, unless they can set up a successfully-expanding empire over there, the national balance sheet will be too insanely crimson for those who would normally support them. And a successful empire is no longer remotely feasible. Even the endless raids on the oil pipelines are being used by the freedom-fighters as a cosh, to further financially penalise and mock the US. Capisce, F33040?

We have to pick up enough seats. I heard Randi Rhodes say today that all 52 of California's seats are up for election in 2006.

20. Um all 435 seats are up for reelection in 2006
Like they are every 2 years.

I doubt we can retake the House then, because there are very few seats are actually competitve.

In 2004 IIRC only 3 incumbents were defeated.

Clinton was impeached for lying about sex, but Bush can't be impeached for lying about a war which has gotten well over 1,000 of our soldiers killed, and more almost every single day?

But like someone else pointed out the republicans control the House. And you know good and well if it was a democrat doing the SAME things as Bush that democrat would be gone in a heartbeat! :grr: Bush lied to EVERYBODY last night. Why can't we get him? I feel sorry for whoever has to clean up the mess Bush makes. At least the dems aren't rolling over (well except for those who voted for Gonalzez).

34. that's the goal! And I am in the process of making that very clear to
Senator Salazar. His vote has just put him on the list of Dem's that will require replacement, along with the thugs who were already there. Anyone know someone that could run as a Republican and then ACT like a Democrat? In Colorado the Senator that Salazar replaced did the exact opposite. He ran as a Dem, got elected as a Dem, and then switched to a thug!
