Democracy within a Police State?

Watching the extreme measures being taken within Iraq to create an election reminds me of the inauguration here. They are both false realities. Voting would not happen at all without a multi-billion dollar army surrounding it. Likewise, in DC, millions were spent on security to create a TV-ready, protest-free zone as an illusion that all was well. Well all isn't well, and I really wonder what the world would be like now if B** hadn't invaded Iraq.

That's my cheerful thought for Saturday night, beat that !
