Inaugural Day Protest: Every Dem buys a Dixie Chicks CD on 1/20
Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks had the courage to speak up and say she was ashamed of Bush. And they were pilloried for it. Country music stations owned by Clear Channel took their songs off their playlists. Clear Channel organized public bulldozings of their CDs. Diane Sawyer tried to shame Natalie Maines by asking her "What was she thinking?" Indeed.

In support of free speech and to express our own shame of Bush, I propose that every Kerry voter go out and buy a Dixie Chicks CD on January 20. I imagine that normally, on any given day not that many people buy Dixie Chicks CDs. If every Democrat bought a Dixie Chicks CD on Jan. 20th, I think it would cause such a huge market blip that it would make the news.

That way we would all be saying very loudly that WE ARE ASHAMED TOO!

Thoughts??

3. Protest by handing money to record companies and retail chains? No thanks.

A better thing to do would be to set a web site and paypal donation account and give the funds to a Maine's favorite charity.

4. The idea's killer - the problem...
...as the "Gas Boycott Day" people will tell you, is getting enough people to commit to doing it so that it's noticeable.

The other question is, if the anomoly (spike in sales, drop in sales, or whatever) doesn't receive Corporate Media coverage, then to whom are we REALLY sending a message? And do we really want to send a message to them?

NGU.

7. Yes, if we did it, it should be well-publicized in advance. (nt)

6. I'd do it if we could buy something I'd actually listen too.
