Meeting with Brevard County Supervisor of Elections tonight. Help!
Fred Galey is attending the Brevard, FL DEC meeting this evening and taking questions. I see that according to VotersUnite.com, local election officials in Brevard county are confirmed to have received "Myth Breakers." Can anyone point me to any other good boilerplate material that I can bring with me tonight?

This is a county that has Diebold Optical-Scan and reported a smooth election. Based on what I can see of results they were pretty much as I predicted, but that's just eyeballing things. I am no number cruncher.

What questions would you ask?

Thanks!

4. BRing myth breakers with you anyway. MAke sure they read it. Use it
as reference. They get stuff all the time but that doesn't mean they read it.

5. I'd want to know...
....if their Diebold Accuvote Optical scanners are all 'visible light', or all 'infrared' or some mixture of both.

If any precincts used infrared, I'd want to know which precincts, and what steps were taken to be sure that the proper infrared-compatible writing utensils were provided at each polling booth, and if at any time on voting day someone checked to see if any of the writing utensils had been changed.

Although from a previous election, the end of this article shows that pen/pencil switching can occur, providing the need for a hand count.

7. You're welcome...
I certainly don't know everything about them, but let's just say that I'm very familiar with the technology.

9. Lots available at VotersUnite.ORG (not .com)
:) Check the page that links to mess-ups by vendor.
http://www.votersunite.org/info/messupsbyvendor.asp

This one is 19 pages specifically devoted to Diebold and has lots of optical scan mess-ups as well as DREs. http://www.votersunite.org/info/Dieboldinthenews.pdf

10. Paper ballots NOW!!!! Hand counts Now!!!!!
Keep it simple and do not stray from simple. Tell them that the most progressive and honest elections have for CENTURIES been conducted on Paper ballots with hand counts. Suggest they write off as a loss those machines. I would suggest that they find a third world buyer of them but then that wouldn't be fair to anyone else either and goes against principle.

Paper ballots period. Hand counts Period.
