This should be our message to DNC - an ultimatum
Either you aggressively investigate the 2004 election irregularities and preliminary evidence of fraud to its fullest or we are going to bolt from the Party. I for one can no longer support a Party that will not fight to protect our most fundamental rights.

Here is what I would ask:
1. Immediately launch a Congressional investigation. Assuming the facts warrant (which they most assuredly will) pressure to have a Special Prosecutor appointed. If the Repukes balk or stall be relentless in bringing the case to the American people via news conferences, press releases, appearing on T.V. shows, etc.
2. The investigation should not stop with at the lower level. It must be fully pursued to see who authorized it. If that leads to the White House then articles of impeachment must be drawn. Regardless, it is important that all guilty parties be duly prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. No favors, no deals!
3. Immediately draft a comprehensive voting rights reform bill that encompasses all of the suggestions laid out by Andy Stephenson in his earlier thread today. Lobby the American people to make sure the bill is passed in its entirety and implemented into the next election cycle 2006.
4. The investigation should look not only at the Presidential race but key Senate and House races where major discrepancies appeared. If it is proven that those races were tainted then recall initiatives should be undertaken.

I think this needs to be in the form of a massive petition and demonstration on the steps of the Capitol.

1. Here's the problem
The Thugs just passed a restriction on indictment. If the 'investigation" is made public the tie that would inevitably occur on the ethics committee because the Thugs think they own the world would force them to indict within 45 days or drop it completely. I think they know launching a publicly declared investigation would be disastrous. Give it some time. "Suggestions are great, but demanding will only get us all nowhere.

2. Judging by the fact that democrats failed to make a fuss of the
the fraud/intimidation of the 2000 election; and also failed in investigating Enron/World Com debacle when they had control of the Senate; and had since been doing incredible job of rolling over on every issue of importance, I am afraid to say that I have no hope of democrats doing any such thing as you propose. Don get me wrong, I pray and hope for them to take up the challenge of living up to the ultimatum you have outlined, but I don see them doing anything. The DLC's -let's get along at all cost - mentality is pervasive amongst the leadership. The desire to be acceptable to the so-called moderates and independents far exceed anything about cartering to the true democratic party bases - we do not count since we do not have anywhere else to go - by the leadership's own calculations!

8. YOU send the suggestion to if you agree with it. Telling "us" to do it
and sitting on the sidelines doing nothing is in my opinion irresponsible.

Don't just whine and order folks to send letters, faxes etc. I believe EVERYONE who's a DEM and a member of this group should.

IMO.
