What did you expect.
that Boxer and Tubb-Jones would sprout glittery fairy wings and fly around their respective chambers spreading pixie dust and presto suddenly a majority of Senators and Representative would vote to reject bushco and install JK? This is not, as Voltaire said, the best of all possible worlds, but this was the best possible outcome. A precedent has been set. The democrats in both houses made it clear that election reform is of paramount importance. Magical thinking is no replacement for hard work. Grandstanding is no replacement for intelligent strategy. Barbara Boxer didn't stand alone. Her objection to certification was almost certainly signed on to by the dem leadership in the Senate.

1. I disagree
I think a few more Democratic Senators should have voted with Boxer -- not make it a 79-1 vote. Makes her look like an anomaly instead of representative of a larger faction of the party. Also leaves her "out to dry" to be crucified by Faux News, and the rest of the wingnuts. Even if half a dozen others voted with her, it would have been better.

2. That is what makes this all the more encouraging
Judging by the way the Dems were prepared, the leadership did help organize this. I have always liked Pelosi and I now have a very good feeling about Reid.

3. Absolutely.
I'm beginning to think that Reid is very shrewd. This bodes well for the future.
