A salute to the heroes of the election reform effort!
I'd like to dedicate this thread to recognize the heroes of the election reform effort so far and for their tireless work and inspiration. These are the people who I can think of off the top of my head in short order (I know I've left off scores of deserving people)...so please add those names who you think deserve a standing ovation, a high-five, a slap on the back, a hug, a beer, a margarita, whatever you think.

We've got a lot of work ahead of us...

In no particular order:

David Cobb
Michael Badnarik
Rep. John Conyers
Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones
Senator Barbara Boxer
Cliff Arnebeck
Jesse Jackson
William Pitt
Each and every volunteer for the Ohio recount
All the DU'ers who have put their blood, sweat and tears into this

Keep it going...

3. We're flooding Boxer's office with flowers on Monday
in San Diego--just to say "Thanks."

I propose the new slate for '08:

Tubbs-Jones/Boxer
or
Boxer/Tubbs-Jones

The only two Democrats we can trust not to cave in and concede when Republicans cheat.

12. I am deeply impressed by Senator
Boxer's courage, especially. The members of the Black Caucus always show bravery.

Senator Boxer has said she regretted her silence in 2000 at the request of Al Gore. I wonder if Gore has regretted asking her to be silent?

"In the much more rancorous aftermath of the 2000 race between then-Texas Gov. Bush and Vice President Al Gore (news - web sites), which was decided in the Supreme Court, no senators stepped up to lodge an objection. Boxer said she had refrained from objecting then at Gore's request, but had since come to regret her silence."

10. Al Franken was saying that Bush doesn't want any bad news-
his staff are supposed to give him "progress reports" or "good news"- anything else he just doesn't want to hear. This rumor came from someone who works in the ChimpHouse.

15. Great thread--let's not let them feel lonely
I'm sure most are as depressed as I am but my first thoughts are to the brave people who need to not feel alone in this. We have to think of some way to keep supporting them as they are our last line of defense against the criminals in power.

19. Absolutely.
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's Day.
William Shakespeare, Henry V
