Who else doesn't like Red & Blue states?
Can't we do better?

This isn't just sour grapes.
This all or nothing red/blue map thing just doesn't show the true visual.
Why don't they show each states as a graph of red/blue? Then it would show how close it really was.

Is it time for popular vote?

there is a neat site that does a shades of purple one.

Editing to add that I am looking forward to the day the map is rainbow-colored to represent more parties.

2. I think we can do better- as Obama reminded us in his DNC speech
I've got to find the text for that speech- about how they are all kinds of people in the red states and in the blue states.

But, I can't help but feeling better being in a very "blue" city, in a blue state. Madison Wisconsin seems truly down in the dumps- even today.

3. let's not let them divide us.
From Barak Obama's speech:

Yet even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there’s not a liberal America and a conservative America—there’s the United States of America. There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America. The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don’t like federal agents poking around our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.
