My prediction for the next 4 years...
I think Dick Cheney will resign sometime in the next couple of years so that Bill Frist or Condi can replace him. That way when 2008 rolls around and Bush can't run again they will already have someone in place.

2. I think you're right
that Cheney will resign...probably sooner than 2 years.......

I expect him to be replaced by a rising "GOP Superstar" who will carry the ball for 2008. I can't see Frist in that role....but maybe.

3. The early buzz for 2008

REPUBLICANS:

THE BUZZ

Sen. Bill Frist of Tennessee wasted no time in putting himself into play, beginning a "victory tour" of the South on Wednesday. The trip included stops in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina with victorious GOP Senate candidates.

8. Then his seat will be vacant.
We should think about running someone against him in 2006.
John Tanner was elected to the U.S. rep here. He is very popular.

17. I think Frist is planning on retiring his senate seat in 2006
Sorry, no link. But I'm pretty sure this is accurate. We'll have a shot at an open seat as Frist prepares his presidential run.

4. I hope it's Frist...
he always puts his foot in his mouth. It wouldn't be Condi. They aren't ready for that in the dumb...um...er...red states.

6. I expect something like that
however, did you see that European (or was it solely British?) oddmakers already have 5 to 1 odds on Hillary for '08.
Funny how that came out the day after the election results were announced.

"When a Presdent are fight'n seven wars for democracy around the world, and, um. I'm work'n hard to bring down that 2 trillion dollar deficit caused by demcrats in the house who won't work with us. That's when a Presdent needs someon by his side he knows really well. Someone the Presdent can trust complicitly, to spend the capital I got. Jeb's that man."

19. Jeb would make sense
He'd easily get Florida, and he's got lots of latino clout. It'd suck, but at least he's the 'smart' brother.

sigh.......

14. Frist is going to step down in 2006
Maybe they name Frist VP, Bush steps down in '07 after dismantling the federal govt and Frist runs in 08 as an incumbent.

Now that's unlikely but Frist becoming VP after stepping down in '06 would not surprise me at all. He's going to step down and run for Pres. and has more or less said as much. He's done alot of dirty work in the Senate that suggests he is not planning on sticking around that chamber very long. Why else would he piss off every Democrat by campaigning against Tom Daschle in South Dakota? The only question is does he want the baggage of being Bush's VP or not.

16. I wouldn't rule out an attempt to repeal the 2-term limit
They floated it with Reagan, and it's clear that these guys leave Reagan in the dust.

Maybe they'll combine it with removing the citizenship requirement, so they can run Arnold as VP.
